Coulter on Caroline Kennedy: 'Every Time She Opens Her Mouth It Gets Worse'

(and other gentle musings from the irritatingly leggy author of Guilty: Liberal ‘Victims’ and Their Assault on America)
By Myrna Blyth
Amazon

Ann Coulter is at it again. Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America (Crown Forum), the newest book from the leggy, blonde, irritatingly slender liberal-basher hits bookstores this week and is already climbing Amazon’s bestseller list. And so the usual media Ann-a-rama has begun with Coulter launching the book on her pal Sean Hannity’s radio and TV shows. She’ll be on “Today” on Tuesday and will follow that with countless interviews. UPDATE: She was supposed to be on "Today" on Tuesday but was abruptly cancelled.   "Today" claims it was because of "breaking news." Coulter isn’t buying that.   The "Today" cancellation just adds to the controversy she is the master at creating.    Undoubtedly she will do countless other interviews. -Myrna

Coulter’s publicist says she never turns down an interview, even on radio talk shows that sound as if they emanate from someone’s garage. She knows her people are listening and buying thousands of copies of her books. She has already had six New York Times mega-bestsellers. Yes, there is a vast right-wing book-buying public who loves a girl who can call JFK “a venereal-disease-ridden sexual profligate and drug addict”; who never forget that “Sen. Ted Kennedy drove Mary Jo Kopechne off the Chappaquiddick Bridge”; who can recall that “President Clinton walked to and from church every Sunday carrying a ten-pound bible for the cameras – and then returned from church on Palm Sunday, 1996, to use a cigar as a sexual aid on Monica Lewinsky”; who can document, in footnote after footnote, that the Swift Boat Veterans were correct in their condemnation of the war record of “the mountebank Kerry.”

Judging by his Cabinet choices, Obama may not be as crazy as I thought he was. That may be worse for my career but better for the country.

I talked to Coulter about Guilty as she was about to embark on her media tour. The book is (no surprise) another in her attacks against liberals. Her thesis this time is that liberals always act like they are being victimized, primarily by the Republican Attack Machine. While in fact, they, with the help of a very biased media, tend to victimize all who disagree with them. She has written about media bias before. “I really didn’t intend to make the book so much about the media,” she told me, "but I just couldn’t help it because the media has so much power. They like to act as if they are powerless, but everything today is about the media. I just had to point out all their dirty little tricks. If you are Paul Revere you have to sound the alarm.”

Now, let’s get one thing straight. I’m a member of the media who is about as unbiased in my political leanings as, say, The New York Times. In general, I think Ann is often more right than wrong, no pun intended. Oh, sure, she goes over the top once in a while, but when she does she is no more unfair or unbalanced then, say, Frank Rich or Keith Olbermann. And she is a lot funnier. In fact, she is often laugh-out-loud funny. And as for being a judge of the true character of some of our political leaders, do remember it was Ann who appraised John Edwards correctly long before his supporters and, unfortunately, Elizabeth Edwards ever did.

Guilty is full of interesting set-pieces such as her report on how the Media Attack Machine turned, during primary season, on their longtime dearly beloved Bill Clinton. She writes, “Obama emerged from the clouds, and at long last, liberals were finished with the Clintons … It took a decade but journalists finally noticed that Clinton getting serviced by a White House intern whose name he couldn’t recall may not have been the equivalent of the Gettysburg Address.” She points out that journalists acted as if Clinton had changed, rather than as if they were no longer covering up for him. Todd Purdum in Vanity Fair said Clinton’s “cavernous narcissism” was related to his triple-bypass surgery. Coulter writes, “Yes, who doesn’t know someone who, after open-heart surgery, becomes an egomaniacal, pathologically lying horndog?”

Also, congrats on the successful theft of the MN Senste seat.” Thanks, we learned from you. Coulter in the same dated black cocktail dress on AM TV…can’t stop playing with her hair like a nervous 12 year old [trying to give impression that she is young, instead of a dated aging bar fly….again getting owned: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YyjrhvmDM8&feature=related

Coward, or ignorant?..Respond to my arguement. You have no sense of history. Keep watching Olderman and Steponallofus, and keep voting liberal. They rely on your ignorance and lazyness. I haven’t even spoken about the envy you display in your hatred of strong conservative women like Coulter and Palin. Coulter probably represents a person you wish you were ( beautiful and sucessful author). Palin keeping her disabled child is a public and stark rebuke to you who would have killed him. You envy her selflessness. What are you? Some kind of lonely, pitiful person who posts a on obscure websites for human contact. I followed a Drudge link to get here. I rarely post anything, but your attack on the first ammendment compelled me to chime in. I won’t respond to anymore of your inane klatter. I live a successful, happy, and busy life, and don’t have much time for losers who want government to confiscate my money.

The so called immoral, illegal invasion and occupation was voted on by the Congress, and passed with a majority of democrats voting yes. In what Marxist fantasy court would your political opponents be tried? You mentioned The Hague, would all congressmen who voted yes be tried as well? The problem with our economy stems from poverty pimps mandating that banks give loans to people who can’t affird them. Conservatives tried to stop it , but didn’t really try hard enough in fear of being labeled racist. Notice there aren’t any Barney Frank hearings on the financial crisis? It’s because Fanny & Freddy are a democrat jobs program. You won’t have any Madoff hearings either (one third more money stolen than Enron) because he’s a democrat too. If you didn’t need to concern yourself with me, why did you respond to my post? As for my burning in hell, you don’t really believe in heaven and hell. You are a “secular progressive”. If you weren’t a liar you would call yourself a godless liberal. Your writing gives me a clue of your poor intellect. Just the kind of people that dems seek out on election day. Go back into the creepy hole you emerged from, and wollow in the crapulence you call a life.

Good point about Kennedy. JFK also criticized Nixon for being too soft on foreign policy and his inclinations toward larger government. Remember that it was Nixon who created EPA, some of the strongest labor laws we have, and enacted price controls when inflation got out of hand (something that a mainstream Republican never would have contemplated).

The MN Senate seat has not been stolen, unless you think that the Republicans are somehow entitled to it regardless of the election results. Franken has been certified by the canvassing board to have the most votes, but he is not the winner yet. All court cases have to be resolved before a winner can be certified by the MN Secretary of State.

I haven’t read Coulter but think I will. she sounds like a hoot. and i don’t entirely disagree with some of her statements. I do disagree with the “liberals don’t read anything” comment. I tend to find that it’s the conservatives at dinner parties who don’t read… well.. they don’t read anything that isn’t conservative anyway. I read John McCain’s books… I go online and look at what limbaugh is saying… I pay attention to both sides and don’t like it when either liberals or conservatives read nothing that doesn’t confirm their bias. so Anne Coulter here I come lol…

Chrome Toe Nice bike. I find it depends on the person. It is true that we tend to read more of what we agree with, but I try to read both sides. If I get on a site where it is blatant neocon or blatant anarchy, I am not interested. Some people I can take, some I can leave. I can take Limbaugh for about 5 minutes. It is his bombastic ego can’t take. Same with Sean Hannity, he seems too rah rah republican for me, and then blind to the problems they have. They, like Rich and Bill Maher keep the partisan wars going because it serves their pocketbook more than finding solutions. There are more on both sides, I could go on and on, but I have to read so that I see what both sides think.

Hey Frannie - the bike in this pic is actually my brother in laws. I strapped the gnome i got for christmas to it and took it riding all day lol. As for the Limbaugh’s and Coulter’s I’m not sure they even believe their own rhetoric. They are primarily showmen (show women). they’re in the entertainment and media industry and hit on a formula that works for them. Especially Limbaugh. But I listen anyway. I want to hear what people think. I for one just don’t think of myself as only a liberal. I think that when it comes to how we spend our money in this country… to how much government is involved in our lives… that type of thing… i think i’m pretty conservative. But then I think that the death penalty and banning abortions is “to much government” for me. so a person who identifies with conservative may disagree. I tend to identify with the democrat party based almost exclusively on their platform of tolerance. Not necessarily because I think democrats are better fit to make good decisions about budget or war or health care than republicans. I just can’t identify with folks who want to save an unborn fetus using government intervention but kill inmates using government intervention all while using government intervention to prevent gay people from getting married…. But I voted for 3 republicans at the state level here in my own state (not governor. i voted for a democrat incumbent). I like to look at issues you know?
