Our wowOwow book friend, Jane Green, stopped by this week. For you darlings, she gave us five autographed copies of her New York Times bestselling novel, The Beach House, plus five beach bags full of fun things like a gorgeous beach towel and a package of luxe Lancaster sunscreen products. We immediately thought: Labor Day Late Summer Giveaway for our wonderful wowOwow readers!

Jane went on to reveal the inspiration behind The Beach House and her main character Nan, a 65-year-old widow who opens her rambling house on Nantucket to summer tenants to try and keep the developers away. It was a woman who Jane and the man in her life would see while courting during long, midnight walks along the beach, talking for hours: "Every night we’d see this woman, tremendously beautiful, in her 60s, with a slash of scarlet lipstick, and she’d ride past us on a bicycle, cigarette in one hand, leaving a trail of smoke behind her. I was fascinated by her: who was she, and more to the point, what was she doing cycling along the beach at midnight? And I decided to use that image as the basis for Nan."
