LIZ SMITH FLASH! How a MySpace User Can Break Into Journalism

One lucky MySpace user has the chance to become a special correspondent at the World Economic Forum. Here's the scoop ...

Liz Smith

There are so many young journalists going begging and out of work. Here’s a chance for engaged young women to compete for being winner of a reporting spot in January at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

MySpace is announcing its second annual "MySpace Citizen Journalist" program in partnership with The Wall Street Journal and the World Economic Forum. One MySpace user has the chance to become a special correspondent at this prestigious get-together.

A panel of experts will select you and you can join the Davos press corps and leverage the MySpace platform, reporting on the conference and interviewing world leaders. The MySpace pool will  accept entries from users in the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Upload a video at http://www.myspace.com/myspacejournal explaining why you should be chosen, and to learn what you have to do to compete.

This is majorly silly….Liz, give us a substantial thread, my dear.  Journalists are a dime a dozen all vying for a second look.   This, too, shall pass.   The world has changed and the oldsters are fading…hard to grasp and hard to acknowledge.   Political topics are what strong women today want to address.   They don’t want to revisit YOUR past.   Young women want to know what is occurring today that will impact their lives.

Sorry, Liz, if I seemed harsh with that post.   Actually it does sound harsh and I apologize…

Liz, I think this is a great idea. If we listened to all cynics we would never accomplish anything!
