The wOw Reader Forum With Mr. wOw: The 82nd Annual Academy Awards

Join Mr. wOw tonight at 6:00 for the wOw Oscar Forum

Unless the Board of Directors of Disney does the right thing and fires CEO Bob Iger, many of you in the NYC/NJ area will not be able to watch the Oscars tonight. Mr. wOw bought himself a new HD TV with the proper antenna, so he’ll be up on what is, in reality, not such a big deal. But it’s better than a night with cable news. Who needs nervous hives? So, I hope some of you are with me. (Maybe you’ll be able to get the show on your computers.) At the very least, you can tune into the E! red carpet for a couple of hours. I’m starting off there. The red carpet is the most fun anyway. Idiotic questions and actresses compelled to strike a pose and tell all on their dress, jewelry and coiffures.

For those of you unable to get the Oscar telecast by any means: First, you know it’s not such a loss. Watch the very campy movie "The Oscar" tonight on TCM. I bet that’ll be considerably more entertaining. And by tomorrow, YouTube will have all the highlights.

My best to you, you crazy movie fans!

P.S. Yes, I blame ABC TV for this one. There’s greed on both sides, but to punish your viewers … not cool. Again, I wouldn’t mind seeing Iger fired for this.

Mr. Wow

Half an hour before the E! red carpet begins.  The first hour of that is pretty tepid, with the hosts attempting to entertain themselves before real stars begin to arrive.

Went to see "Green Zone" this weekend.  Memo to Matt Damon: stop making movies that employ the jittery hand-held camera.  Annoying, not dramatic.  (His first "Bourne" movie didn’t use this gimmick and it is by far the best of the three.)

Watched "On the Beach" yesterday, one of my fave films.  Hard to believe Ava Gardner wasn’t even nominated for that performance.

Just finished up with "Die Hard 2" which is not good at all.

As always, I will ask for your indulgence with fast typing typos and inevitable mispelling.  Mr. Wow can’t spell. Well.  I will again plead for a spell check on this comment section. Or when you go to Preview.  Just a little red line that screams—-"you are an idiot, Mr. Wow; happy that you left school at 15 and never paid attention before you did?"

Mr. Wow, my google tool bar has a spell-check on it.  Tho you’d never know to read some of my posts.  It probably works fine … if I’d use it.  :)

Mr. Wow I’m so peed off, they went over and my DVR didn’t get the Best Actress, Actor, or Movie, I had to go to ABC.com to see who won.  And I"m so very HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY to say Sandra Bullock won just as I prayed for.  But she did just what she told Barbara Walters she wouldn’t do, she cried, but she deserved to cry.  She portrayed a woman with morals and love for all children no matter their color, faith, or ethnic background.  Way to go Sandra, I was on your side since Love Potion # 9. Mr. Wow I hate to say I told you so, but "I TOLD YOU SO", :)  Deni

Well, Mr. Wow, if you really have trouble with your spelling you could always get the Firefox internet browser. It provides built-in spell check, and a translator, I believe.

I think I missed out on this whole ABC battle issue. What’s going on? Who is fighting whom, and why, exactly?

ABC wants more $ from Cablevision.   A translator?  No, no…I speak English.  I just can’t write it.

6:02.  Ryan Seacrest.  First star—"Avatar’s" Sam Worthngton.  Ryan: Sam, true that you were living in a car before "A?"  True.

Oh, God..Zac Efron has popped in.  Zac to Sam—you are the man!  Zac talking his new WB movie deal.  No game plan. Taking his time.  He looks pretty.

The aptly named Guilian Rancic is on with Jay Hernandez—the fashion mavens.  She looks like an insect.   Cheesy earrings.

Monique (I knw that’s not the proper spelling) Very Nice in blue.  Ryan tells her she’s a "lock" the award.  She’s honored, etc.  "Precious" changed her life, Inwardly.   She is appealing, but a one-trick pony.  Still, that was some performance.

Is the dress long enough to cover the hairy legs? (Not a judgement-she’s free to be natural, just think it ruins an elegant look.  Sort of like a bad tattoo on a bride’s bare back).

I am in South Florida taking care of my elderly father through illness.  I thought I was miserable not being in NY until I realized that I am missing the winter (Went to the beach yesterday!) and have the Oscars!  Always a silver lining.  Oh, and I hate to be catty and disparage another woman’s looks (really!), but Jim Cameron traded up from the gorgeous Kathryn Bigelow to Skeletor?

I regret the word I used.  She just looks, as you say, painfully thin.  She was much healthier (and happier looking) in Titanic.
