Altovise Davis -- Sammy Davis Jr.'s Widow -- Dies at 65

Singer and actress Altovise Davis, widow of "Rat Pack" performer Sammy Davis Jr., died Saturday afternoon. Davis was hospitalized in Los Angeles on Thursday suffering what appeared to be a stroke. The 65-year-old was put on life support and reportedly died of complications.
Davis met Sammy Davis, Jr. in 1967 while both were working on the same show, "Golden Boy." The two wed May 11, 1970 in a Philadelphia courthouse presided by Rev. Jesse Jackson. During her marriage, Davis became active with several philanthropic organizations. She devoted much time to SHARE Inc., a nonprofit group that raises money for developmentally disabled, abused and neglected children.
Husband Davis Jr. died from throat cancer on May 16, 1990 – five days after their 20th anniversary. He is best remembered as an entertainer with a famous "Rat Pack" group of friends, which included Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop. All of whom are dearly missed.
Davis is survived by her son Manny.
