Candice Bergen's 'Murphy Brown' Obligation
In response to: What is the most important lesson in leadership you have ever learned? What were the circumstances?
As I don’t work in a company (thank God), I haven’t gotten many. But when I did "Murphy Brown" for ten years, I felt a certain obligation to our cast and crew to represent us thoughtfully and well.

Dear Candace,
This might be the time to say "Murphy Brown" was one of the all-time great series. It took on important issues at the same time making us laugh (and sometimes tear up). The writing was superb and you were, to those of us who didn’t know you well back then, turned out to be a stunning surprise. So thank you!
How right you are Barbara, there hasn’t been anything even close to Murphy Brown. I bought the first season DVD set and laugh again and again. I wish they would come out with the rest of the series.
Murphy Brown was one of the best shows on television ever. Loved all the characters, and esp Murphy…and her political views! This was funny with Lily Tomlin and Julia Roberts.
