We can’t believe much of what we hear surrounding Carrie Prejean … but this latest gossip has us wondering if the controversial Miss California’s mother is a closeted lesbian?

The tabloid Star (which is not the most trusted news source) reports that Prejean’s mother once had a girlfriend. Star claims they spoke to the ex-girlfriend of the Miss USA runner-up’s mother, Francine Coppola. "Yes, Francine and I dated," Valerie Vetrano reportedly told Star.

"Francine explained how she was a Christian and that her loved ones would never accept her if she were gay," said Vetrano.

She may be onto something there. Prejean was met with harsh criticism after expressing her opposition against same-sex marriage at the Miss USA competition. "In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," Prejean replied to a question asked by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton at the competition. Shortly after losing the race for the Miss USA crown, Prejean became a spokesperson for the National Organization for Marriage, a group that opposes gay marriage.

What an interesting twist to the soap-opera!

Who cares? Aside from the extremely questionable veracity of this story, what does it matter? Not supporting gay marriage isn’t the same thing as opposing gay people. Furthermore, not only do some people "experiment" at times in their life, sometimes people in families (brace yourselves!) disagree! I know, it’s a strange concept, but not everything we do, think and are agrees with our family’s ideas. And yet, life goes on… :P

Thank you Deborah!

The Radical gay community can’t handle that their asses were handed back to them, with a thanks but no thanks sticker attached! It’s like the night of the living dead, isn’t it? They keep trying to come back from the grave, a dead issue indeed.

What does this matter?? Even if she was Carrie said nothing bad about gays other than she was taught and believed that marrieage is between a man and a woman! Many gays believe that as well!  What is the point?..other than to malign her character?

Despite others trying to convince me to the contrary, I DO NOT see how the state’s recognizing a union between same sex partners in any way diminishes the importance or validity of my heterosexual marriage. However, look at it this way, marriage, by definition is a union recognized by religious organizations as being sanctioned by God. A founding principal of our country is the separation of church and state, therefore states should not recognize marriage, whether heterosexual or between same-sex couples. And the states cannot dictate religious doctrine.Call it something else, civil union, or government approved, whatever. Isn’t the most important aspect is that the union is legally recognized, and the same benefits and protections afforded heterosexual couples are granted to same sex couples, without bias or prejudiced?

This development in this non-story, definitely indicates some anger, disappointment, or pain in young Carrie’s life. Perhaps if her mother had come out to her as a young adult, this plastic twit might have a better understanding of the words tolerance and acceptance.

So we’re supposed to understand that Prejean’s views on marriage are the result of her mother possibly being a lesbian?

Oh please. Just let this bit of news die.

Is there NO end to the effort that will be made to make that poor girl look like less than she is? It’s no wonder not everyone tries to find their spot in the spotlight. The media loves you for roughly a minute and then will go to any means to try and tear you down. It’s completely RIDICULOUS.

OK, I think it’s time to let this story die.  I could understand the issue of the pictures because it related to the contract she signed.  Now people are just scraping the bottom of the barrel looking for something, anything.  Very sleazy.

OMG!!! Leave this girl alone…she is being crucified for no reason other than expressing her belief.  I don’t agree with her, but I will fight to the death to protect her right to speak.  I am highly suspicious that there are dirty little creeps out there digging furiously to find ANYTHING they can to serve up to the public to discredit her for daring to buckthe Gay community.  This is NOT helping the cause guys…let it alone and move on with dignity!!

Please. Can we not keep commenting on this story? Just let the clock tick down until Ms. Prejean’s 15 minutes are up and she (and her new breasts) can go back to whatever she did before all this happened? Please?
