'Dancing With the Stars' Winner Crowned

After weeks of grueling rehearsals and cut-throat competitions, a winner was crowned on "Dancing With the Stars." In case you TiVo’d it and haven’t had the chance to watch it yet, please do not read this post if you do not want to spoil the final results. 

Now that you are forewarned:

The 17-year-old Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson was named the 2009 winner of "Dancing With the Stars." Actor Gilles Marini (most remembered as Samantha’s naked neighbor in the "Sex and the City" movie) came in second, and "Bachelor" star Melissa Rycroft finished in third.

It was the closest competition in the history of the show. Less than one percent of viewers’ votes separated Johnson and Marini. From the whispers heard around the wowOwow offices, votes were split between all three contestants. However, the general consensus: we could watch Marini dance for the rest of our lives … Congratulations to all for bringing us an entertaining show!

I was rooting for Melissa..but her injuries impacted her performance over the last few weeks!  ……Shawn is a doll and her precision dancing was worth of the crown if Melissa could not be the one.

Gilles Marini got my vote.  He looked so good out there but his last dance wasn’t his best and that might have been what did him in.

I totally agree!  Of course he is good to look at but he’s a great dancer as well.  Looking at the entire competition, I think Gilles should have won.

Does anyone know the name of that song they all done that dance of the Passa dobley(sp?) too? Is it called Rock Star? And if so who sings it?Is there an actual site that names the songs and who they are by?

Wow!!!!!!!!!  I am soooooooooo shocked !!!  I have been a fan of Pink from Day 1 and i didnt even recognize this song as her!!!  I cant believe it!!!  Thanks soooooooooo much for telling me who sings this..it was making me crazy!! Love this song!!!

 Got another for you if you are up for it….  there was a song this season a while back that had something to do with an airplane……     I cant think of the guy who danced to it but he was that other cute guy besides Tony tht is the professional dancer on there. GRRRRR I cant think of his name…..!!!!  But it was something about take my picture in an airport….???? Sorry i cant give more info then that…. but would love to know the name of that one too and who sings it???

oh you are terrific!   yes.. that is the dance and that is the song…. and I found out it is called "Take my Picture" by a group that i have never heard of before called Filter…. Thanks for your help on finding the video!!!  ;)

I voted for Gilles and Shawn on the finale, couldn’t make up my mind.  Gilles is so HOT it is hard NOT to vote for him.  What a catch!  He is sexy, he is precise, one of the BEST dancers I have ever seen on this show by far.  Then you have Shawn that came out of nowhere and demanded respect.  Melissa is beautiful and very graceful, but she was never as good as Gilles and Shawn.  Congratulations Shawn!!!  Best Dancing With the Stars ever!!!!!!

The woman are always more talented IMO.  Gilles just walked around an posed Cheryl most of the time!

As Ginger Rodgers said  " She did it walking abckwards in high heels" and the lifts ……wowo!
