Two cups of coffee a day when I first wake up (which can sometimes be as late as 3 pm since I’m up late) is all I can handle. But it’s always the best part of the day.
Starbucks (here in NYC, one on every street corner) is a major ripoff. I have yet to find a home coffeemaker I really like, so I go to the Dunkin Donuts across the street from my apartment, get a large black coffee, and bring it home. Then I add stevia and 1% milk. Yum. I love cold coffee in the summer, so I add ice cubes. Less than two dollars and it lasts me all day.
Does anyone own a coffeemaker they like? I have tried Mr. Coffee, Cuisinart, and the little drip cups. I have never thought of myself as fussy. My boyfriend vetos all these methods, so making coffee has gotten expensive after getting rid of all these appliances. I know, those coffee pods look cute and even make cappucino (I had one when I was employed), but buying refills is too ridiculously expensive for two people.
Coffee is definitely big business. I wish I had thought up those little cans of espresso.
MMMmm, have to have my coffee every morning (black and unsweetened), it’s a ritual. I’ve now just started roasting my own coffee beans and it really adds another dimension! But like kermie, I need to find a good coffeemaker, mine is only okay.
Unfortunately, this morning my power was out (wind storm) so I had to go to McDonald’s for my morning ritual. It actually wasn’t too bad, but not that great either.
Yes I drink coffee every day, several times a day. My preference is the Best coffee in the world Peets Coffee. I do not understand the concept of de-caffinated coffee..having worked in politics, I can if pushed drink cold coffee, two day old coffee (if I have a personal relationship with he coffee pot holding that two day old coffee) and extemely strong coffee. I love coffee!
I gave up coffee when I was pregnant—harder than not drinking alcohol. As for giving it up for some reason now—forget it. Oh, and please pour some on my grave.
When I was growing up, my grandmother had a pot of drip coffee on the stove at all times. In South Louisiana, we like coffee and chicory and the stronger, the better. For breakfast as a child, we would have a hunk of french bread and a cup of cafe au lait and we would dunk the bread in the coffee to melt the butter. YUM! I still have a cup of coffee on my desk all day that I fill up about 3 or 4 times. Love coffee!
Love the taste. I have what the coffee shop calls "an almost latte"……one-shot of decaf coffee with soya milk. Takes care of my reduced caffeine necessity and my lactose intolerance. Still love the taste!
I have loved coffee since I was a young girl sitting at the kitchen table with my mom reading the paper. Must have it every morning, sort of an endless cup that I keep adding a few drops of milk to and then pour more coffee on top. The women I work with on my new job are also coffee people, so I’m pretty much drinking it till about noon, that’s when even I’ve had my "fill."
I admit, though, that I am not a Starbucks girl; too much trouble when I need to ask questions and receive instructions before ordering a cup of coffee! Kind of the same with tea. I love tea, and might have a nice cup in the afternoon every now and then, but the steeping, and the bags, it’s too much trouble. If I want another cup it’s more hot water, more bags. But a nice 12 cup pot of coffee, just keep it coming!
For years I drank coffee all day every day. As I walked into my office my secretary would hand my first cup which I kept filled on my desk. Then, after stomach problems the doctor told me I had to give it up. I tried de-caf but decided I’d rather not drink coffee at all than drink that stuff!
So I stopped. Except…..when I go out to dinner I still have that cup after dinner. What a treat for me! I only eat out once or twice a week so I have, at most, 2 cups a week. Do I miss it? Far more than the 3 packs of cigarettes a day I used to smoke. (gave that up 21 years ago) I still love the aroma and get pleasure from the two cups a week!

I LOVE the aroma of coffee, but I despise the taste.
Give me a nice pot of Earl Grey tea, & I’m a happy caffiene addict.
