A documentary following actress Farrah Fawcett’s intense battle with rectal cancer has been sold to NBC, the New York Post reports.

"A Wing and Prayer," shot mostly by Fawcett and friends, follows the ill star as she receives experimental cancer treatments in Germany, shuffles between doctors’ appointments and confronts the paparazzi. No air date has yet been set for "A Wing and a Prayer," as NBC remains flexible with the filming.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail photographed a weak- and weary-looking Fawcett being wheeled out of a Los Angeles airport. The icon of the 1970s and ’80s just returned from Germany, which is where she’s been undergoing an embryonic stem-cell cancer treatment currently outlawed in the United States.

The 62-year-old actress, who starred as Jill Munroe in the ’70s hit "Charlie’s Angels," was diagnosed with rectal cancer in September 2006. When she first revealed her illness to the press, Fawcett said in a statement, "I am resolutely strong and I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight while going through the next six weeks of cutting-edge, state-of-the-art treatment. I should be able to return to my life as it was before at the end of my treatment."

Fawcett has a 24-year-old son, Redmond O’Neal, who she had with longtime lover Ryan O’Neal.

Why would you post a link to the london paper which is like the National Enquirer? Why not link to Farrah herself talking about the incident at Access Hollywood:

Farrah is one woman I would love to share a bottle of wine with.  She has been through it all personally: marriage to Lee Majors, the whole deal with Ryan ONeil and his funkay family.  Career choices… this woman has done them all: from her famous poster to becoming a respected actress in the 80s by taking some adventurous and challenging roles.  She has proven herself time and again to be a survivor.  This time will be no exception.

My prayers are with you, Farrah.  And thank you for documenting your journey: it does more good than folks realize.  God speed.

My best wishes to Ms Fawcett for a cure and recovery. I’m curious about how stem cell therapy could help her though. I was under the impression that early stem cell research showed that in some circumstances stem cells actually can create tumors. I wonder how it would work to help a cancer patient. Removal of malignant tissue and then application to create new healthy tissue? I don’t even know where to look for information like this … anyone know?
