Ladies, LADIES! Step back, re-read these posts and think  a moment. Where else in the daytime media will you see the balance these women bring to us on a daily basis. Seriously!

In addition to Smith & Bergen they have had as guests O’Reilly & Limbaugh, Palin & Coulter, First Ladies present and past, Obama & Clinton in  addition to the myriad controversial, entertaining, heart wrenching topics and individuals that ARE our world.

This seemingly disparate group of women each brings her own flavor to "ragout" we see each day. It is more family than talk show, solving nothing, provoking thought hopefully. After all everyone has a view and none are completely wrong, unless dismissed out of hand. AA has a concept: "Contempt prior to investigation."

But what do I know? I’m just a guy.

(BTW…Caught the show. Awesome! Smith & Bergen, Bergen & Smith, hats off laaaaadies! Would have loved to see you query M. Moore ! Gawd, how I miss Murphy & Shirley!)

I may have been too harsh in my criticism since I have only seen about 20 minutes of one show.  Perhaps the Joe Wilson-ing behavior I witnessed is not a daily occurrence.  I hope not.   Blurting out and interrupting one another and/or the guest is very unbecoming behavior.  I’ll make it a point to watch again.

I won’t - with all due respect, I’m not unique. When any program makes me uncomfortable due to over-speak, and walking on others talking, etc., rudeness, etc. I don’t find it appealing, but that is MO only! Hence, I, me, don’t watch.

C Jay,

I couldn’t agree with you more on your honest opinion.  The script is written for all the ladies to follow, so it isn’t all just off the cuff.  Maybe once in awhile someone throws in a line or two to be funny.  I find Whoopi very rude at rolling her eyes when guests are on, I find Barbara very rude when she interrupts and wants to talk about herself and name drop at every chance she gets.  I think Sherry bragging about having a number of abortions is appalling and Joy’s jokes are rude and not funny at all, and her tapping her pencil on the table or her hand on her hip is very unpleasant to watch.  Elizabeth is not a great choice for the only Republican voice at the table.  This show makes women look totally ignorant IMHO

I thought Liz Smith, Candice Bergen and Whoopi said it all when they equated The View to WOWOWOW. It took awhile for The View to catch pn and I still have high hopes for this site.  The premise is good…..

oops- typo- meant to type "on" instead of "pn".

The View

I enjoy The View and hope you all get a chance to see the show and what both Ms. Smith and Ms. Candice have to say.  Check it out on-line at www.abc.com/theview

I have watched the view for many years, more now since I am self-employed.  I enjoy different points of view especially those that differ from my own.  Hummmmmmm ….. maybe that’s why it’s called THE VIEW

I think Joni is correct. To all of the ladies on this thread bashing The View, how do you think what you say on the various threads on the WoW site are viewed by those "tuning in" to see what’s happening on this site?

Do we not bicker, debate, get nasty sometimes?

Do we not take to our corners or sides and defend those we respect and admire in politics?

Are some of us White, Black, young, old, with kids and grand-kids as well?

Do we shout over one another by way of one response after another?

Are there some people you like on this site and others you don’t? Those where the moment you see their avatar you  *scroll* right by them because of your distaste for them and their online persona?

So tell me, what makes the WoW site any different than The View other than the fact the show is televised. Your justification for disliking the show is really off the mark and should be reconsidered.

You don’t have to like it, but as you claim not to, keep in mind "those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones"

Three cheers to you, Belinda Joy, for an excellent, balanced response! You helped put this thread into perspective for me, because, frankly, I’ve been sort of confused by the ire and the fire of many of the comments, especially considering that wOw helps women of myriad perspectives and POV’s get out there and mix it up … just like The View!

I thoroughly enjoyed it.  In fact that’s what brought me to this website as I had not heard of it before.  I love it and signed up.  Thank you for an intelligent place to visit on the web.

I enjoy the View - Joy, Whoopi, and Barbara are my favourites and hot topics are great fun. The show is on while I’m at work so I tape it. I can’t wait to see today’s episode. Like Belinda Joy I think there are many similarities between the show and this website.

I have to say I don’t understand people who, when they come to this website and see a topic they don’t like, feel the need to click the link and talk about how much they don’t like the topic. Which, BTW, was not "do you like the View and if not, please tell us in detail why you don’t." If I understand correctly (as I said I haven’t yet seen today’s View) viewers of the View have been invited to check out the WOWOWOW website. How welcome they must feel as they read these posts. :>((

If you don’t like a subject there are many threads posted every day in a wide variety of topics - something for everyone - you can even go to the forums and start your own thread.

To all the View viewers: Welcome to WOWOWOW!

A question for anyone out there concerned about girls and women’s safety…

Everyday we read about atrocities of crime against women worldwide.  Thousands of powerful people backed with wonderful organizations work to educate women, support women both financially and medically, assist in their daily quality of life. Question:

Why isn’t there one group or organization or even individual talking about educating boys and men?  Why is there not one initiative to stop rape and brutality against women aimed at the abusers rather than the victims.

I have been told that would be impossible because men can not control their physical sexual desires.  Do you agree?  Find me an organization and I will join.

Don’t stop what you are doing for girls and women, but start educating boys and men as well

Janice, Could not agree with you more!  I have a son and yes, I did educate him about how to treat other people (he has 3 sisters so I constantly brought up "would you like to see your sister treated this way, your mother, etc).  At my youngest daughter’s hs they changed the uniform from skirt to skort because there was a problem with too short skirts, boys looking up the skirts, etc.  All the blame was put on the girls - I never heard "boys quit looking up the girls skirts on the staircase".  It really hit me that the attitude was that males cannot control their urges - puleeze!!
