Gisele Bündchen – Serious Stepmom | 03/30/2009 1:05 pm

Gisele Bündchen Claims '100 Percent' Ownership of Tom Brady's Son

By The Staff at wowOwow.com
May Issue of Vanity Fair

Gisele Bündchen bared all for the pages of Vanity Fair, but it’s what she said, and not her spectacular appearance, that’s sparking gossip.

The hot topic? Claiming "100 percent" ownership of the son of husband Tom Brady and Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

"I understand that he has a mom, and I respect that, but to me it’s not like because somebody else delivered him, that’s not my child. I feel it is, 100 percent," says the Brazilian model in the magazine’s May issue. "I want him to have a great relationship with his mom, because that’s important, but I love him the same way as if he were mine. I already feel like he’s my son, from the first day."

John Moynahan — son of the actress who played Mr. Big’s wife on "Sex and the City" and New England Patriots quarterback — was born August 22, 2007, after the couple split and Brady already moved on with Bündchen. According to Bündchen, while Moynahan’s pregnancy was "definitely a surprise for both of us," she takes the role of stepmother very seriously.

As far as becoming a mother to her own brood with her football-star husband?

"I would like a big family," she says, before continuing:

I love children. When you come from a big family, you see that growing up you’re learning how to share. Your sisters have got your back; you’re not alone in this — ‘We all support you!’ Your family provides that; it gives you a sense of safety, and it’s a very grounding feeling. That’s why I feel I can fly away, because I have those roots and they’re so deep. This is what I want to have in my life. This is why you get married — you want to create those roots together; you want to give that to your kids. I would also love to adopt a child from Brazil. When you come from São Paulo, you see five-year-olds sniffing glue on the corner. You think if you make a difference in the life of one of them, that makes your time on this earth worthwhile. I will have a colorful family, like a rainbow. I have dogs from rescue; they are all my dogs. Children are like little angels — there’s no way you can’t love them.

I’m glad she takes her role as step mom seriously but he has a mother.

Bridget should watch out for her!

Maybe this is a way Gisele thinks can be a mom without sacraficing her figure?

Well, that’s not the best statement to make when you are the new stepmom! I don’t think Bridget has ever been too happy with Gi but this article isn’t going to bring them any closer.

I’m a little behind the times, but isn’t it illegal to own a person?

I think Jada Pinckett Smith puts it best.  She calls Will’s son from his first marriage her ‘bonus son’.  It shows that she loves him like her own without being disrespectful of his biological mother.

I did spell ‘Pinkett’ wrong, though…..

I thought of that also. Will and Jada have the best attitude I’ve ever seen, mature and grown up, and the way all split families should be. And if that is what Giselle has in mind, good for her. I think a lot was lost in translation here.

Let’s not forget, I don’t think English is her first language.  As a stepmother myself, I somewhat understand what she is trying to say.  You learn to love them as your own, knowing you are not their mother but hoping you will make the right decisions and sacrifices.  I hope she did not mean literally "100 percent ownership"….

She’s clearly clueless.  And boy, does she have some enlightening moments coming her way!

IT’S GREAT SHE LOVES THE CHILD SO MUCH, BUT SHE MUST REMEMBER HE HAS A MOTHER THAT LOVES HIMNO ONE CAN REPLACE YOUR MOTHER, AND SHE KNOWS THAT.

Geez all the girl was saying is that she loves the boy and feels like he’s her son. she in no way invalidated his bio mom. I think she was just trying to say that while it’s non traditional they are no less of a family. more power to her. sounds like baby boy has wonderful women in his life.

If I were the boy’s mother I would be very wary of her. However, not knowing this woman’s background but looking at her name and reading the quote, it appears that English isn’t her first language so maybe expressing herself here in English, her intension got a bit skewed in the translation.
