"Grey’s Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo will soon welcome her first child!

E! News has confirmed that 39-year-old Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey on the hit ABC drama, and her music-producer husband Chris Ivery, 41, are starting their family. People first reported the story.

Pompeo and Ivery married in 2007, in a quiet ceremony at New York’s City Hall; Mayor Michael Bloomberg served as their witness. 

It’s not expected Pompeo’s bump will be written into the show’s storyline. Meredith’s on-screen half-sister, Lexie Grey, is also pregnant offscreen with her third child. That pregnancy also hasn’t been written into the show. Those doctor’s coats really work wonders for hiding bulging bellies!
