I’n happy to say that I have been to one of those beaches in Portugal.  The Algarve has some of the most breathtaking beaches.  Some of my favorites are also in Hawaii.  Especially there state beach on the main island.  The most relaxing beach for me lately has been at the Breakers in Florida as well.  Also the beaches on block island are nice and quiet.  I guess as long as I live if I can get to the beach once a year I’m happy.  I get to take stock of life when I walk the beach and thank my lucky stars that everything is right with the world.

Barbara, nice idea about Block Island! It is so beautiful and relaxing there. I’d love to see Ballydonegan, the first beach in this slideshow. I had no idea there were such lovely beaches in Ireland!

What a terrific feature, very nicely done, and the links provided in the articles are very helpful.  I love the beach, but I must say I don’t care to have people laying on a blanket 5 feet away from mine, blaring a radio or arguing.  A place in the sun for myself ?  Sounds like paradise to me.  I’m putting several of these on my list of places I must visit.

I love hitting the beach in the off season when you can have it all to yourself. These beaches are great because they’re off the beaten path. Thanks for the insights, and beautiful photos.
