Jade Goody, the British reality TV star who turned a cancer diagnosis into a world-wide celebrity phenomenon, has died.

Goody, 27, leaves behind two young sons, who, according to Goody, were the impetus for her to sell the story of her impending death to the media’s highest bidders, in order to leave an inheritance to the boys to take them to adulthood.

She also left them a legacy of their mother’s bravery, intelligence and deep understanding of the media to make one of the modern world’s most dramatic exits from life’s stage.

Goody defied doctor’s expectations to live to see one last Mother’s Day, which was celebrated in Britain in March.

Her famous, oft-repeated, quote about her life, death and celebrity:

"I’ve lived my whole adult life talking about my life," … "I’ve lived in front of the cameras. And maybe I’ll die in front of them"

RIP, Jade. As a cervical cancer survior myself, your story touched me to the core. God bless your children and family.

A note to all women who read this, GET YOUR ANNUAL PAP SMEARS!!! Cervical cancer can be very treatable if caught early. I’m proof of that.

My heart goes out to her family such a young age to be taken away. One day we hope they will find a cure for all cancers so many lives lost to that disease.  My Mother and Aunt both died from cancer and it is devastating to deal with, but we live in hope a cure will be found soon.

Losing someone you love is not an easy thing to deal with.It needs all your strengh and will to overcome this and go on with your life..i know it ‘cause i have gone through it..Just the knowledge a member of your family got cancer is devatating enough, seeing him die slowly and in pain is worst…

This is such a sad story.  My heart sobs for her sons.

I’ve said this on another thread, but people, ask your moms what types of drugs they were taking when pregnant with you.  In the 50’s and 60’s, women took a drug called DES that resulted in incredibly high instances of cervical cancer in the female offspring.  One of my best friends was diagnosed at age 18.

If your mother took DES or a similar type drug while pregnant with you, it is imperative that you tell your doctor so you can be closely monitored.

Jade, sweetheart.  May you fly to Heaven and watch your sons grow and know that the world is a better place because you were here. RIP.

This is a woman who lived and died on her own terms, public opinion be damned, she was motivated to provide for her sons right until she died and provide she did. In the last few months Goody amassed nearly $2 million dollars for her sons. Even though she was from ‘the wrong side of the tracks’ in England, Jade was canny and smart. Her house, recently aquired fortune and the rest of her estate was all placed in a trust for her children which is administered by her bridesmaids.

I take some small comfort knowing that Jade achieved her goal of providing for her children.

She was a ballsy, funny, gutsy young lady who died all too soon. She was no saint, she was just like everyone else. That’s why people loved her and that’s why I’ll miss her.

Rest in Peace Jade.

My tears are flowing for this young Ladies loss years.  Her children will need all the love her family can give them.  I am well versed in Cervical Cancer, when I was five months pregnant with my beautiful baby boy, who is now 25 soon to be 26, I lived in hell.  Never knowing if I would make it through to his birth and what would happend after he was born.  Would he be healthy.  Fear eats away at you know matter what form of cancer you have.  I will pray for Jade and for her children and hope that the people in those childrens lives remind them everyday how much their mother loves them and will be with them every day of the rest of their life.  God Speed Jade, rest in the arms of the Lord and know your babies will be safe.
