Jessica Simpson Talks About Ex Nick Lachey, Beau Tony Romo, Body Image and More for Vanity Fair Cover Story

The ever-evolving Jessica Simpson graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s June issue.
Dressed in a white, hip-hugging Marilyn Monroe-inspired dress, Simpson opened up to the magazine about her divorce from fellow pop singer Nick Lachey, her current relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and the media’s scrutiny of her weight gain.
Here are excerpts from the interview:
Jessica on her ex-husband Nick Lachey (Simpson and Lachey divorced in November 2005 after three years of a very public marriage documented on an MTV reality show, "Newlyweds"):
I have not spoken to him in years.
Jessica on media criticism (In February Simpson reportedly had a public meltdown on stage shortly after media outlets said that the singer has gained a noticeable amount of weight):
That’s just something I have had to train myself — literally train myself — to ignore. Because I’m the one up there onstage, and I can feel the energy of the crowd. And I know when I did good. And I know when I did great. And there wasn’t one time on this tour when I felt like I butchered it. I mean, the way people make it sound, I should have never been singing in the first place … It comes with what I do … and I know that every day the media’s going to challenge me, is going to want to bring me down. But I feel like I’m at such a place that I own myself, and it’s authentic. I own that authentic part of myself, and none of those words are harsh enough to make me believe them.
Jessica on her "inner life":
I’m spiritual. I live off the faith that has been instilled in me, that has never left. I’ve never let a stumbling block actually make me fall.
Jessica on her beliefs:
We all go through trials, but not one thing has ever made me question God. I have a great relationship with God. I can talk to him, get mad at him, frustrated with him. But, ultimately, my faith is what defines me.
Ashlee Simpson on sister Jessica:
Jessica is a fighter … Jessica is a wonderful girl … We’re the best in our pajamas together.
Tony Romo on girlfriend Jessica:
She has a very small-town side to her. We’re very similar in that we both appreciate the hometown feel to a lot of things, and live our life like that.

Sorry, but I cannot for the life of me see what all the fuss is about.
And her father creeps me out.
I agree with you there.
What’s with all these celebrity fathers anyways? They seem WAY too involved with their daughters’ careers, and don’t seem to have much of their own! It’s kind of sick…..ew.
