Joan Ganz Cooney Bids Adieu to Stork Club and Other Fun Restaurants

Joan Ganz Cooney
I miss going to Toots Shor’s with people the owner considered important because the restaurant was fun and he was a character, and also the Stork Club. Billingsley liked young people and celebrities and I was in the former category.

At lunchtime, back in the 60’s in midtown, I’d always stop in the Chock Full ‘O Nuts restaurants.  Nothing fancy but they had the best cream cheese on date and nut bread and the best whole wheat donuts.  The hot dogs were yummy as well.  Of course, the coffee was always delicious and I still use the Chock Full ‘O Nuts brand.  Lunch was not expensive and boy was it good!
