In response to: Conan O'Brien hosted his first 'Tonight Show' last night. Why do we embrace great televison comics so intimately?

For one thing, they make us laugh at the end of the day when all of our immediate obligations have been taken care of. They demand nothing of us except a smile or a chuckle. I go to bed four nights a week, happy and laughing with Jon Stewart. I don’t stay up late enough very often for the late-night comics, but I try to sneak in a few minutes of Colbert.

I stay up way too late!  But I’m not much for the late night comics.  Nightline, Charlie Rose maybe a little Tavis Smiley but no the comics.

i’m not fond of fallon. for some reason he always sounds forced. i do not think late night is his forte. he is cute as a button, but he is better at biting sarcasm than kissing up to guests just to get an interview.
