Joan Ganz Cooney on the Art of Cooking

Joan Ganz Cooney
Julia Child’s The Art of French Cooking. It’s been so long since I’ve cooked that I don’t remember the recipes. I do remember that I used to hate it when I’d spend hours on some recipe, sit down with guests and then everyone would just eat it all up and my "art" was gone. Being a painter would be much more satisfying to me than being a cook.

Mr Food’s "From My Kitchen To Yours", Mr. Food (aka Art Ginsburg) was syndicated and primarily was seen as a small segment on local news programming. I just loved him! He was probably one of the very first cooks to make fast and easy meals (before Rachael Ray) and his motto was "Ohhhh It’s So Good!" I have a number of his cookbooks as well as other cooks/chefs but his to this day his is one of my favorites. I have made his "Onion Brisket" on page 89 for the Jewish Holidays probably close to every year for the past 15 years. He had a great personality and was a riot to watch. Collecting cookbooks and cooking "homestyle" unfussy types of foods is a passion of mine which is evidenced by my "girlish figure" lol, hey you have to taste what you make before you serve it right?

You New Yorkers go out too much. Maybe it is time New Yorkers stay in for a meal.
