Liz Smith gave Allegra Huston the first wonderful review for her memoir Love Child on wowOwow, and now, Melik Kaylan  has written a thoughtful and elegant piece on it here. It’s cheering to see that her book has been read with mind, heart and soul.

I read Allegra Huston’s book in one night. In Evelyn Keyes’ 1977 book, "Scarlett’s Younger Sister" when John Huston left Evelyn for Allegra’s mother (Ricki Soma) who was pregnant with Tony, Evelyn questioned whether Ricki’s child was John’s. John replied, "it didn’t matter." Evelyn knew John wanted children. John proved it 18 years later in 1968 when Ricki died and left 4 year old Allegra behind who John "adopted." Allegra was truly a love child for so many people…eventually…but it was John Huston who made it happen.
