Joan Rivers Will Be Roasted — Can She Handle It?

Joan Rivers can dish out the barbs, but can she take them just as well?
We’ll find out later this year, when Comedy Central will record and broadcast a roast of the legendary comedienne. Rivers couldn’t be more thrilled, she said, and joked, "The last time I was Roasted I was half of a two-for-one special: Joan of Arc and me."
For those of you who don’t know, a roast is when friends, relatives and other associates basically just make fun of the honoree — all in good fun, of course. In case you need a visual example, take a look at this video of Cloris Leachman explaining why she attended Bob Saget’s roast: "to f—k John Stamos." That roast obviously came with sauce!
The Joan Rivers roast airs August 9th.

Can’t understand why anyone would subject themselves to a roast. They are not funny for the most part and can be quite mean. There was an earlier post about teaching kids empathy and kindness and then we have roasts. Must be confusing for some youngsters. Of course, you can say it is adult television and they shouldn’t watch. Yeah right.
Will I watch, Joan getting roasted, you bet.
Can Joan Rivers take a ROAST??!!! OK: I needed that laugh for the day!
Joan Rivers is one of the most enduring and tough women in show business EVER. I adore her, not only for her onstage personna which is refreshing and brash, but for her personal endurance. If she can survive in show business for as long as she has, and her own personal situations, nobody will be able to rock her boat on Saturday.
Go, Joan! While we hear your friends tease you on Sat. about your multiple face lists and aging issues, we will all be sitting at home wishing we could be you at your age. Love you!
(PS: Can’t wait to see what your daughter Melissa will say!)
