Family at sextuplets' fifth birthday party

Despite a firestorm of infidelity rumors Jon and Kate Gosselin, the couple’s reality television must go on. On Monday, May 25th, "Jon & Kate Plus 8" airs its fifth season on TLC, and a short video promoting the premier is now available online.

While previous reports claimed the couple would not address their alleged infidelities (Jon with school teacher Deanna Hummel and Kate with bodyguard Steve Neild), a two-minute clip on the TLC website says the parents of eight children will appear "side by side" to "address what the future holds for their family."

The video shows Jon and Kate at their sextuplets’ fifth birthday. While the children may be having a good time, Jon and Kate are rarely seen near one another.

"The world isn’t about ratings and TV," says a haggard-looking Jon. "It’s about happiness and love and companionship and intimacy and, you know, family and God. I think we all get caught up in everything. Kate and I are obviously going through a lot of stuff and discussing what’s best for the kids."

"I will not give up," Kate says, in a separate interview. "My kids are the reason I’ve always done everything."

The show has probably generated some income, but how can they expect to connect without any privacy?

Trust me it can’t be done. From what I’ve read the money has been coming in like a running faucet. Anybody who thinks generating this kind of publicity about herself or her family is a credible way to operate needs to have her head examined! This whole situation is such a sham and the ones who will pay for it the most are those eight kids. I hope dear old Katie enjoys counting out the money for the psycological help those kids are definitely going to need. I think she is one pathetic excuse for a wife and a mother!

The money should allow them to set themselves up comfortably now.  They should quit while they are ahead, regroup, and salvage their family.

I couldn’t agree with you more! They certainly are a unique family given the multiple birth, but to sacrifice your marriage, and your children for monetary gain never fails to amaze me. You have to wonder about priorities!!

Sorry……..I think this is all a ratings ploy.   They have gotten more exposure in the last few weeks than ever before.

Not that I am exactly a bell weather, but prior to the last couple of weeks — I barely knew they had a show.   I’m betting this is designed to increase viewers.

I’m with you, MK. You can only keep people watching the shameless exploitation of those kids for so long, without getting bored out of their minds…time for "drama" to ensure that people keep watching.

I am not sure if this is a ploy to get ratings, these two are married & have 8 kids, what they are doing to make money is on them.  If their marriage suffers that is on them.  If you dont care, then dont watch.  I have watched the show for years now & admire how Kate keeps her kids in check, yes she is a drill sergeant and sometimes not nice, but they are married and its for better or worse…hopefully they can find the love they once had for each other & go through with that.  I would like to hope this is not for ratings…

You know they have several nannies as well as "household help" to clean the house and stuff right?  She’s not doing all that herself.

SB…in the beginning she did do a lot of the cleaning herself, now, yes I am fully aware she has help.  Who wouldnt need the help.  I am not on the side of Kate but why is it wrong of her to want to look good and presentable.  Why is it that a stay at home MOm has to stay in sweats all day?  Why can’t she do things to make herself feel good about herself or want to look pretty.

I love the show. I think Kate comes off as stringent sometimes, but she has to be. The children are adorable and obviously well taken care of and loved.

Dream on, Claire. Whatever moves you forward, but be sure you are moving forward. Believing anything or anyone on TV, or in the "news" isn’t a step forward.
