Interrogating Kate Gosselin and Rush Limbaugh (Video)
Mr. wOw weighs in on interrogators Natalie Morales vs. Chris Wallace.

Mr. wOw watched two interviews earlier this week. One was yet another sit-down on Fox News with Rush Limbaugh. His "interrogator" was Chris Wallace.
The other was Kate Gosselin’s TLC confessional – her Princess Diana moment, replete with tears and appropriate lighting. (Diana chose to allow some harshness, emphasizing her ravaged-victim-deer-in-the-headlights pose. Kate was softly lit, offsetting her bitch-on-wheels persona.)
The Limbaugh session was typical Fox softball. Chris Wallace was practically licking Limbaugh’s shoes. It was really just an excuse for Rush to vent on Obama – the president is trying to destroy the economy, "on purpose … he is a ‘man child,’ etc." Through it, Wallace ducked his head, smiled and all but blushed, as Limbaugh swelled with vitriol. Keith Olbermann (I’m not a big fan, but sometimes he is useful) did a moment-by-moment replay that is classic. It is probably on YouTube right now.
The whole thing was fascinating, like watching the malevolent aliens arrive in "V," and choose one clueless newsperson to become their PR outlet. (I’m thinking the fabulous ’80s miniseries "V," not the bland, plotless travesty that is currently airing on ABC.)
Oh, and beyond anything Rush said, there was the sight of his bare ankles. Mr. wOw does not want to see any of Mr. Limbaugh’s flesh. Wear socks, and a tie. (That fleshy neck is no treat.) Look, it’s OK for FOX to be conservative. I don’t mind that. Just say it, and quit the "fair and balanced" routine.
Mrs. Gosselin, the infamous, driving ego of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," was interviewed by Natalie Morales. And I must say, Ms. Morales did not give much quarter to Kate. This was a relentless hour. Natalie was hard-eyed and not afraid to put Kate on the spot, over and over, in matters of exploiting her fecundity, the resulting brood and her own desire to be more than what she is – a woman with a crazy asymmetrical hairdo and an angry, insecure, fat, loser hubby. Morales even pulled out one of the worst tabloid cover stories on Kate and demanded to know how Kate felt about being called a "monster." And right to the end of this interview, Morales kept asking, essentially – why not just quit showbiz and move ahead as a normal divorcee?
Guess what? Mrs. Gosselin went head-to-head. I was impressed with her composure, her obvious restraint in lacing into Jon, her well-thought-out replies. Although Kate has yet to explain, as far as I know, why exactly she signed on for a reality show after she learned she was carrying sextuplets (unless this is just ordinary 21st-century pathology?), she impressively explained that the genie was out of the bottle; no matter what she did, she’d now be followed everywhere, every decision overanalyzed by the tabs.
That she feels she was made for the limelight is obvious. And as for quitting public life: "What can I do, go back to being a nurse? That wouldn’t support the children." She is addicted to the attention now, but she is being commonsensical stating that she’s in it, up to her neck, no turning back, and her basking in the glow will provide for the future of her children.
It was fascinating. Not so much Kate, and certainly not the shadow of her unfortunate soon-to-be-ex, but the quality of this interview. I haven’t seen such a sizzling grill in quite a while. If Natalie Morales can bring this aggressive stance to the idiocy that is Jon and Kate, I’d like to see her bounce it off … any politician. I rarely observe these guys and gals on either side of the fence have their feet put to the fire. The intelligent follow-up question, the determination to get a straight answer seems long gone.
Ms. Morales works for NBC. She replaces Meredith Vieira during the third hour of the "Today Show" and fills in for Ann Curry sometimes as an anchor. I have never noticed her before. Now she is on Mr.wOw’s radar!

Just maybe Jon should learn from Kate during the times he takes the shoe out of his mouth for a breath and has to reinsert or run away from questions. At least Kate is honest about trying to forge out the future rather than the next 15 minutes of fame or looking like a fool. They have taken the focus off of Octomom at least.
Natalie Morales is focused and driven, that part of her has shown through for a long time. I prefer her to Ann Curry anytime.
A couple of years ago I think I watched about 10 minutes of one episode of JK+8 and I detested it. I thought then she was a shrew and I have no doubt it holds true until today. In my attempts to avoid her like the plague, I did get suckered into watching a clip of the brood getting ready for an interview, her daughter pleading for a drink of water, and Kate saying no and drinking some water right in front of her. The little girl promptly called her on it, and good for her!
As for anything else I’ve run into about that woman, it has been a few images where she prances around wearing a bikini. I’m sure she thinks by comparison to what her body looked like before reconstruction she’s awesome, but she not only does NOT have a bikini body, but even more so with the wrap-around scars. Not to mention that I think I finally figured out what still seemed "not right" about it. I do believe her surgeon placed her navel about an inch-and-a-half too high.
Ann Curry??? Ew! Natalie is the best.
Meow. ;)
The majority of reality shows if not all are just staged performances using what appears as "real" people who go on to become reality stars?? The first show I saw, she was talking about cleaning floors with a tootbrush being a germ phobic, I enjoyed the kids, they are cute. The best place for them really is benig watched by the world at this point. Life in general is chaos, and to them that is their normal. After eight kids, she has to have more nips and tucks than could be counted. lol I like the naval comment, too cute!
This whole world right now does not seem real. You just sit back and wait for the next time bomb to explode. Where’s the peace!
I was also struck by Kate’s comment about being a nurse and supporting her children. I know plenty of women in exactly that same position: working at a decent-paying job, budgeting carefully, making sure her kids’ needs are met, and explaining why certain "luxuries" such as trips and new toys are not always possible. I wonder why Kate cannot manage to accept that this is an alternative for her. She has embraced a lifestyle, however, and gotten her kids used to it as well, and seems reluctant to give it up, as though it is the ONLY way for her to manage. The unreality of the reality show has taken over, I think. And that is the real story - how does someone detach from that artificial reality and return to some semblance of real life? Is it possible?
Like you, when the news of the Ft. Hood rampage broke, my heart sank, and all I could think about was the REALITY of that event, and the REAL heroism and courage of those who ran INTO danger to save others. And, of course, the reality of a world that is a dangerous and unpredictable place was once again borne home. Surely there is some way to reconcile "entertainment" with the actuality of life in these times? And reliance on scripted "reality" shows would then fade into the mist of pop culture and be a footnote to an era rather than the centerpiece? Well, I still think that the best case scenario would be for someone with the insight and skill of Ken Burns to examine this phenomenon. Perhaps your dream, Linda, can become a reality - and I mean a REAL reality! I wish you success.
Have a great day, and keep the dream!
Something I have learned is when we leave our dreams and success in life to be validated by others, the continuance of the dream is contingent on the continual validation from outside of who we are. When we validate ours self from within, we than control the dream and longevity of the success in the choice of how we dream. A harder road than instant gratification, yet worth the patience in continual gratification of whom we have either chosen to be or path we have walked.
My brother is a retired exec, and very accomplished business man yet my largest critic and skeptic for a long time, to the point of nothing being said between us if not in general conversation. Through a course of events this last year, he has done a 360 as one of my biggest supporters. Offered to do what he can from the business sense to help me realize my dreams. A part of my own inner validation becoming an outer validation in the process of staying focused in who I am, regardless of opinions in this world and allowing and accepting assistance in an alignment, rather than molding in the views of others.
Thank you!
hmmm
… think of her hair … now … think of AW’s.
