Interrogating Kate Gosselin and Rush Limbaugh (Video)

Mr. wOw weighs in on interrogators Natalie Morales vs. Chris Wallace.
By Mr. wOw
YouTube
Mr. wOw watched two interviews earlier this week. One was yet another sit-down on Fox News with Rush Limbaugh. His "interrogator" was Chris Wallace.

The other was Kate Gosselin’s TLC confessional – her Princess Diana moment, replete with tears and appropriate lighting. (Diana chose to allow some harshness, emphasizing her ravaged-victim-deer-in-the-headlights pose. Kate was softly lit, offsetting her bitch-on-wheels persona.)

The Limbaugh session was typical Fox softball. Chris Wallace was practically licking Limbaugh’s shoes. It was really just an excuse for Rush to vent on Obama – the president is trying to destroy the economy, "on purpose … he is a ‘man child,’ etc." Through it, Wallace ducked his head, smiled and all but blushed, as Limbaugh swelled with vitriol. Keith Olbermann (I’m not a big fan, but sometimes he is useful) did a moment-by-moment replay that is classic. It is probably on YouTube right now.

The whole thing was fascinating, like watching the malevolent aliens arrive in "V," and choose one clueless newsperson to become their PR outlet. (I’m thinking the fabulous ’80s miniseries "V," not the bland, plotless travesty that is currently airing on ABC.)

Oh, and beyond anything Rush said, there was the sight of his bare ankles. Mr. wOw does not want to see any of Mr. Limbaugh’s flesh. Wear socks, and a tie. (That fleshy neck is no treat.) Look, it’s OK for FOX to be conservative. I don’t mind that. Just say it, and quit the "fair and balanced" routine.

Mrs. Gosselin, the infamous, driving ego of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," was interviewed by Natalie Morales. And I must say, Ms. Morales did not give much quarter to Kate. This was a relentless hour. Natalie was hard-eyed and not afraid to put Kate on the spot, over and over, in matters of exploiting her fecundity, the resulting brood and her own desire to be more than what she is – a woman with a crazy asymmetrical hairdo and an angry, insecure, fat, loser hubby. Morales even pulled out one of the worst tabloid cover stories on Kate and demanded to know how Kate felt about being called a "monster." And right to the end of this interview, Morales kept asking, essentially – why not just quit showbiz and move ahead as a normal divorcee?

Guess what? Mrs. Gosselin went head-to-head. I was impressed with her composure, her obvious restraint in lacing into Jon, her well-thought-out replies. Although Kate has yet to explain, as far as I know, why exactly she signed on for a reality show after she learned she was carrying sextuplets (unless this is just ordinary 21st-century pathology?), she impressively explained that the genie was out of the bottle; no matter what she did, she’d now be followed everywhere, every decision overanalyzed by the tabs.

That she feels she was made for the limelight is obvious. And as for quitting public life: "What can I do, go back to being a nurse? That wouldn’t support the children." She is addicted to the attention now, but she is being commonsensical stating that she’s in it, up to her neck, no turning back, and her basking in the glow will provide for the future of her children.

It was fascinating. Not so much Kate, and certainly not the shadow of her unfortunate soon-to-be-ex, but the quality of this interview. I haven’t seen such a sizzling grill in quite a while. If Natalie Morales can bring this aggressive stance to the idiocy that is Jon and Kate, I’d like to see her bounce it off … any politician. I rarely observe these guys and gals on either side of the fence have their feet put to the fire. The intelligent follow-up question, the determination to get a straight answer seems long gone.

Ms. Morales works for NBC. She replaces Meredith Vieira during the third hour of the "Today Show" and fills in for Ann Curry sometimes as an anchor. I have never noticed her before. Now she is on Mr.wOw’s radar!

Dear Caroline…In my opinion, Natalie Morales did a better job of grilling Kate Gosselin that Wallace did with Limabaugh.  Mr. Wow doen’t need to "find out who Kate Gosselin is."  I think I know what she—-a smart cookie, a tough survivor and more stable than the late Di.  But less appealing.

I suckle at no teet, my friend.

Stable is not a word I ever associated with the Princess of Wales who quickly turned into the Princess of Wails.

First of all Mr. Wow, a big THANK YOU for putting Natalie Morales name out there so that more people can become fans of this fabulous reporter. I have followed her for awhile now and think she epitomizes what a good reporter should be.

I saw both interviews and I have to tell you, as much as you and I are oil and water on some subjects, there are others (like the Limbaugh love-fest - it was NOT an interview) that you take the words right out of my mouth. Did you see those bare ankles…yuck!  But you have to admit, now that he has lost some weight, the caps on the teeth are a pearly white, the skin looks tighter….he does look much better than he did. Not as oily, bloated and winded as he usually does. I’m not so sure I’d want to see him in a shirt with a tie. Can you imagine the strangle hold that would look like?

It’s so funny because it really was almost….almost as if Rush had written the questions in advance and gave them to Wallace to ask. He answered them as if he had them rehearsed to some extent. But then again his responses are many I have heard him say on his show time and time again. Obama is bad for America….Obama is a man child…Obama, Obama, Obama…I think he has tourettes when it comes to Obama.

Dear Belinda…even when we are oil and water, I appreciate your input.  I forgot to mention the teeth.  Blinding!

Can’t you imagine what his Nibs would say about any woman who looked like HE does on his show????  It’s always about them, men for the most part, their work, their beliefs, their trials, their preferences, their fatigue, their money, they just don’t "get it," or perhaps they do but I doubt it. I’ve noticed that the males with bellies hanging over their belt buckles are also the ones who blatantly criticize women, especially those they view as beneath them!

I have never seen Jon and Kate just as I will never see the Octomom’s reality show.  Not interested in those Spears people either or the Lohan family tree.  Something very creepy and ultra skanky about the whole desperate clan. Something very troubling about people pimping their kids for financial gain.

As for Rush. Sure, I have heard him and that alone is enough to click on any channel rather than where he is being interviewed , and it makes no difference who the interviewer may be. Rush will always be a bloated buffoon, and it has nothing to do with his weight or his attempt to look cool without socks.  Chicklet teeth won’t help either.   I think his role in America is keen, however.  Many people are easily influenced by those in the entertainment world, whether it is TV , the cable clowns, or radio.

I had to stop watching the videos half way through. I felt as though I was spying on a therapy session. It hurt me to watch. I have questions: Why would you succumb  to an interview like this? Why would you decide to have all these children in the first place if you knew that you wouldn’t be able to afford them? (as Kate said). Now she’s locked in financially and has to continue because of this?  I used to watch the program because I was fascinated by how this couple would cope with their brood. As the twins developed I detected an anger in them–-more in Mattie––and a disrespect to the parents. I would imagine having a twin is one thing, but then having, suddenly, six more siblings is another. Fame can be destructive; the Gosselins are prime examples.

I hesitate to comment on Rush only because I think he’s off his chump. I will say I agree with Mr. Wow’s aghast at no socks. I don’t think he ever wears a tie––perhaps it interferes with his blow heartiness-cuts off the old windpipe that needs all the air it can get.

Right on, PDP!! One comment though. I have always wondered why people being interviewed put up with the interviewer. I would stand up, and walk out, and call friends to join me for dinner!

I truthfully enjoyed the Wallace/Rush interview.  Rush definitely does his research and knows what he is talking about.  He is no "man-child", that’s for sure!  He has many listeners everyday and everytime the Obama administration cries about him or Fox, they only help raise the viewing numbers and ratings.  I think Rush looked mighty fine since his weight loss, and the "no socks", well that is the style for some, Brad Pitt loves it too!

Initially I occasionally watched John & Kate, and it was a lot different than it revolved to what it has become…a slick production with Kate all galmned up, and not there a lot of times, being on the road. She used to talk so awful to John, like he was an idiot, so what it has become does not surprise me.

As for Rush. He must think he is so cool, and he can never be cool. The no socks bit was an ugly embarrassment on him, whereas on some others it does look cool. Being close to my dermatologist I can tell you he looked like he has visited his for facial work. The lack of any lines in his brow, plus a rather expressionless face shouts Botox. He also looks like he might have had a fractional laser treatment with his pink shiny skin, also fillers could have aided the total smooth look. I think he looked a bit overdone, but probably nobody else noticed it.  I am always looking for "work"on public persona. It’s always easy to detect.

As for Rush…it’s not about him thinking he’s cool, but he is proud to be an American.

I did not see the Rush Limbaugh interview but had to admit I succumbed to the Kate Gosselin interview and agree with Mr. WOW that it was her *Princess Diana* moment.   I’m not saying her husband is a prince but I used to like their show…before the boob jobs, teeth whitening, hair implant episodes.   (I give Kate a pass on the free tummy tuck but I think we saw her true nature when she wanted to parlay a free tummy tuck into a free boob job and the plastic surgeon who was doing this gratis (except for the publicity) suggested she just get a better bra.   Anyway…assuming they have been remotely responsible with the money they have made over the past 5 years, she could very readily go back to being a nurse and he could get an IT job and the kids could still have their college fund and they would be better off than 3/4 of Americans today.   This woman LOVES the limelight.   She claims to not understand how one year of her constantly being on the road,  with a bodyguard, in first class accommodations  promoting her books and the show and selling photos of her kids while her husband stayed at home dealing with 8 kids and their tantrums and babysitters and dr. appointments etc. could have remotely pissed him off.   Not to mention her public emasculation of him on the show.  Yeah…he’s acting like a tool now.   But if you watch the earlier episodes you would consider him a hero for all he did in that relationship and for those kids,  while being yelled at for putting the wrong shoes on the kids or the wrong hair ribbon in the girl’s hair or *not using a coupon* to buy a $20 showerhead.  I hope America moves on and leaves them in obscurity.   And I note, she never did deny having an affair with her bodyguard and the interviewer let it pass.   I was dying for her to say…So..you are telling me that you did not sleep with your bodyguard?*   I frankly don’t give a fig, but that was hardly hard edged interviewing to let Kate digress away from the question so easily.

As for Limbaugh.  If he is so influential, how did Bill Clinton get elected?  How did Barack Obama get elected.  His show has a huge audience, its true, but he is no more running for office than Kate Gosselin or Angelina Jolie.  And…I have to think that Chris Wallace was doing a bit of payback to Obama’s stupid war against Fox News.  Since Obama has directed that  no one from his administration give interviews to Fox, its a little laughable to hear Mr. WOW and his ilk complain that Fox is not fair and balanced.  I suspect that Walllace would have dumped Rush like a hot potato if Obama’s staff had had the nerve to offer to have Obama interviewed last Sunday.   And what, pray tell, *hard question* are you going to ask Rush when he is not an elected official.   He’s talked ad nauseum about his addiction to pain killers, his failed marriages etc. on his show and I’m sure would be happy to talk about them on Fox if questioned but.. whats the point?  If we profess not to care about politician’s private lives (and they are the ones who make decisions which impact our own) why, pray tell should we care about Rush Limbaugh’s private life when he is simply a person who we can turn off or on with the flick of a switch and has no power to impact our lives at all.  I’d suggest that if Obama wants Fox to cover him fairly, he get some of his people  to return the Fox Network calls for interviews.

Kate in an extrovert who figured out a way to give her kids better than average experiences and opportunities.  Instead of "selective reduction" or killing off a few, she chose to sacrifice her own comfort, give birth to all of them, and then figure out how to make it all work.  If people think it’s so bad for the kids, why don’t they make the same complaint about the Duggars who are all growing up in front of the cameras too?

I say Good for Kate, and the rest of America gets to see what middle class parenting is like.  I’m sure there is a whole demographic that finds explaing consequences to children, and putting them on time-out - completely novel ideas!

(I was horrified listening to Chris Rock describing the beatings that black parents give their children, compared to white parents who make suggestions for better behavior.  The crowd was laughing hysterically, but I was appalled.)

Mr. Wow…Thank you so much for disproving the comments that men never talk about other men’s dress or appearance from yesterday’s discussion about Hillary Clinton donning a head scarf in the middle east!

See ladies…men can be just as petty and bitchy about another man’s appearance as the women are!
