"American Idol" viewers turned to the Web last night following Kelly Clarkson’s performance, during which she sported what appeared to be a baby bump. The former "Idol" winner has put on a lot of weight since we last saw her in her music video "Since You’ve Been Gone" or at red-carpet events.

On Wednesday’s "Idol" elimination ceremony, Clarkson, 26, sang "My Life Would Suck Without You," a single from her new album. She did look heavier — she undoubtedly gained a few pounds in her stomach — but in an interview in US Weekly published this March, Clarkson said she had "no desire" to become a mother soon. Clarkson is also single.

Before Clarkson performed, she admitted to host Ryan Seacrest that she was a bit nervous: "Gosh! I feel like I’m being judged," Clarkson said. She was right. But it wasn’t Simon Cowell’s criticism she had to worry about — it was the American public’s criticism.

We think Clarkson gave a flawless performance. She’s a natural talent and a beauty, regardless of extra weight. Marilyn Monroe, remember, was a size 14.
