Kiefer Sutherland of Fox’s hit show "24" turned himself in to New York City police at four o’clock PM on Thursday after allegedly head-butting a fashion designer who got between him and Brooke Shields at a nightclub on Monday.

Sutherland was reportedly talking to the actress when Jack McCullough wiggled his way between them. That led to an ugly confrontation. McCullough says TV’s Jack Bauer used his head to knock him in the face, leaving him with a broken and bloodied nose.

According to the New York Post, Shields is friends with both of the men and she regrets the "unfortunate situation."

Sutherland faces misdemeanor assault charges.

Kiefer Sutherland is a grandfather, perhaps it is time he grew up.

And for the record, I think his show is reprehensible in that it promotes torture as a viable way to obtain information. ‘24" is desensitizing people to the horrors of torture, giving the incorrect impression that torture is a good way to get truthful information and thus the show is having a negative impact on our society.

DeBurca, more negative than many realize.  See the below links for how "24" actually influenced some young and stupid policymakers; inexcusable even though top-level memos established the environment for it.

In the past, the CIA taught that torture is not an effective way to get accurate info.  The Army interrogation manual has always taught the same thing (still does!).  I also know someone who personally witnessed a post-WWII German interrogation of a suspected East German spy; he expected to see the worst, but nothing of the kind happened and the guy cooperated without any threats.  Afterward the interrogator told him the same thing: beating people up doesn’t get you the truth.

This has been well-established for a long time but apparently some in our government can’t be bothered with trifles like laws, treaties, or history; it’s SO much better to let a cartoon-like fictional TV character set your policy.

Great post Lila. I felt that the show ‘24’ was probably promoted during the Bush years to get people used to the idea so they wouldn’t be appalled when they found out we were actually doing those things. The propaganda about torture flies in the face of years of accepted knowledge that torture is only good for two things… getting people to say what you WANT them to say, and that is not a smart way to obtain intelligence, and revenge, and a civilized nation should be above using revenge.

My husband and I used to watch "24" and just LAUGH because it was so ridiculous on so many levels.  I quit laughing when I heard it was being used as inspiration to these knuckleheads who can’t tell reality from fantasy.  I am betting this will be the last season, because REAL events have left the public disgusted with this sort of thing.  I hope.

I hope you’re right, I hope it goes off the air. Speaking of torture, I just found out that Air America is sponsoring a drive pressure Sean Hannity to follow through with his offer to be waterboarded and to raise money for charity based upon how many seconds Hannity can handle being waterboarded! Just check this out:

Dahlings, perhaps it’s time to tell Donald’s boy that there is a difference between a role and real life.

Ah, the "Glasgow Kiss." I remember it well.

I assume substances were involved.

I hope it isn’t true! I am no big fan of either Kiefer or his program. But for a full grown adult male to act in that fashion it’s just plain stupid. Growing up would be a really worthwhile project.

He cannot seem to kick the booze or his bad boy behavior…

Oh now, ladies, really. How little you know us males. This is how we do it. That fashion designer was lucky to get off as easy as he did.

This guy has been a bad work in progress on himself, by himself, for quite a number of years.  He likes to fancy himself a charming real cool tough guy and,  like a chameleon he cloakes himself in the existing surrroundings of the role he plays.  Unfortunately he is nothing more than a well-off drunk.  I don’t think he can grow up, or change.  24 is not a good environment for a sponger like him.  In my house, 24 isn’t just a No No.  It’s an absolute outright NO !!  Who needs to play-act violence?   Enough happens naturally.

I feel sorry for Brooke Shields. She always seems to accidentally get involved in the crossfire. [Remember antidepressants for Post Partum Depression and Tom Cruse’s attack on them?]

LOL…Keifer plays (really well) an imaginery role on a TV show…get a grip folks. KS is no more Jack Bauer than the vaunted Carroll O’Connor was Archie Bunker or Christopher Reeves was really Superman. That said…this whole issue is soooo metrosexual. Did anyone see the 1/4 inch ‘boo-boo’ on the fashion designer’s schnooze? If that’s assault…wow. And trust me, I watch 24 and if Keifer really ‘thought’ he was Jack…well, he’d have more than a scratch on his face. The “pansification” of the American marches on…
