We had the pleasure of seeing the highly buzzed-about singer Lady Gaga perform on last night’s "American Idol."

In case you haven’t heard of her, this 23-year-old New Yorker is rapidly singing her way to the top of the music charts through her eclectic mix of pop, electric and R & B.

Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, sang "Poker Face" from her début album "The Fame." With her deep vocals, fast piano fingers and unique costume (see the zipper surrounding her eye), Gaga reminds us of the sensational Cher, who is known for her over-the-top costumes and theatrical performances.  

Another characteristic that we find worthy of mention is what she recently said regarding image. Speaking about her appearance, the rising pop star said she doesn’t consider herself a sex symbol. "I’m not super-sexy," said the singer, and added:

A girl’s got to use what she’s given and I’m not going to make a guy drool the way a Britney video does. So I take it to extremes. I don’t say I dress sexily on stage — what I do is so extreme. It’s meant to make guys think: ‘I don’t know if this is sexy or just weird.’

While Gaga stole the show, another female left it. Last night on "Idol," Megan Joy was sent packing. Simon Cowell lacked any sympathy for the blonde, delicate hopeful — who, out of the five contestants eliminated thus far, was the least surprised to be sent home.
