Lily Tomlin's Ernestine Takes on Sarah Palin and Michael Vick in Animal Rights Message (Video)
‘Piper, put your mother on the phone!’ says Lily Tomlin in her latest animal-rights video.
Always ready to lend a helping hand, I dropped by at the Hollywood office of The Humane Society of the United States to shoot a video to be shown at the 23rd Genesis Awards Saturday, March 28. True to form, I did not hold back on letting my true feelings be known about my concerns for animals and the miserable treatment they so often receive at the hands of humans. Don’t get me started. Click here to find out how everyone from Sarah Palin and Mayor Villaraigosa to Michael Vick and Neal Cavuto gets the rough end of my tongue.

I was shocked last year when my sister bragged to me she had bought an expensive purebred showdog as a family pet, never even considering a rescue animal. (I have always gone to shelters and prefer an older, more settled, animal that no one else will take.) She immediately started having health problems in her "investment," as she called him, and is now talking about having him put to sleep. He is only five years old. I don’t know if he was the product of a puppy mill, only that he cannot be shown and is a big disappointment to her.
I am sure she is a great disappointment to the dog.
If you want a great family pet always go with the mutt.
Ernestine, you’re timeless!
“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” - Mohandas GandhiExcellent quote, Andrea. Good for you!
Gandhi is one of my heros … right after Lily, of course. :)
Ernestine You Rock! I almost spit out my coffee all over the computer. I swear you don’t age. What is your secret my dear?
Phone hugs,
Josie
It’s called comedy, dahling. Rage and hate are different from comedy, my dear Nota.
They’re not funny.
It’s called comedy, dahling. Whackos are the ones who shoot and kill. Comedians make us laugh.
The difference is apparent to most people, my dear.
