WOW BIRTHDAYS | 09/03/2009 8:45 am

Lily's Warmest Thank You

Lily Tomlin

Dear wOw Womyn and a Few of you Gents:

Yesterday, on my birthday, I was frantically traveling from Boston trying to get home before my birthday ended so I could spend part of it with my precious Jane. When I got in, Jane had opened the wOw birthday page on my desktop so I’d see it right away. I was overwhelmed. Thank you, all of you, for the loving, kind, generous greetings you sent to me. Knowing that so many of you connect with Jane and me and all those characters and the things they say and do is such a sweet validation of all of us being Art. YOUR part in it is so much grander than mine that I’ll have to speak through Trudy as Emcye did:

"Delusions of grandeur make me feel a lot better about myself."

With love and thanks to all of you,

Lily

Dear Lily: Welcome to the Seventies. You have helped me to get through some tough times with your great, God-given gifts.  May I quote you to yourself: "If trying harder isn’t working, try softer." Love,Frederica Winter (age 77 1/2)

Lily, I came across some stunning b&w 16mm footage of you on the Merv Griffin Show. There are 2 full clips…phone call to Gore Vidal and Grrr Detergent. (my fave!)

I would love to give you a DVD of the footage.

Short Cuts is my favorite Lily film performance EVER! She shoulda gotten an Oscar nod for THAT, not Nashville. Well, Nashville too I guess. But she shoulda got nominated AND won for Short Cuts. There, I said it.

HAPPY (belated) Birthday, Lily!   I missed it since I haven’t been online for awhile.  Blessings to you, along the way!

Kryssi, I am trying to get hold of you… and have had no luck with the "messenger" IM thingy…  Serena has my Email address if you can contact her.  She has her website by first and last name, if you have it contact her and she can give my Email to you, ok?

Lily, just wanted to let you know I got a new kitten today who is 5 weeks old. She is absolutely beautiful and I named her Lily, after you! You’re a wonderful and talented lady and I hope she grows up to be as wonderful as you are!

P.S. I have another kitten that is named Madeline, after Madeline Kahn.

Happy (belated) birthday, Lily. Youwere about 56 when we worked together and Emily is now 12 years old! I have only fond memories of working with you and Jane on that magnificent house. I remember the music room with the fireplace, the lily pad tiles, your costumes hanging in the basement, the vitamin closet, the day you made lunch for me and the few times I actually made you laugh. I always appreciated your intensity and your creativity, still going strong at 70 no doubt. Best to you and Jane, from Diane Waingrow

To Lily Tomlin: Happy very belated birthday. I just came upon this website & love it. I was wondering If you will be coming to Southern California, Los Angeles or Ventura County,  to do her show? My mom & I saw your show at Pepperdine a few yrs ago & looooooooooooooved it. Even though you weren’t feeling well that night your energy made all of us look like wimps. I loved your interview with Bonnie Hunt. I noticed on ticketmaster’s website you will be in San Diego but I was wondering if you’ll be heading towards Los Angeles or Ventura County, CA to do a show? Thank you for all the years of wonderful movies, characters & shows & women’s & animal rights activism.
