Liz Smith Envies Those Who Fervently and Adamantly Believe

In response to: Do you believe in God?
Liz Smith
Well, I’m writing a book about Him right now so maybe I better. I believe in something or somethings but I am not exactly sure just what it is that created and runs the universe. And all the people who do so fervently and adamantly believe … well, I envy them. "Oh, Lord, help thou my disbelief!"

I am not religous, but spritual. I would love for you to visit my website www.myspritiualwindows.info

One interesting development during the course of having the website, is the visitors come from all paths of belief, and seem to find part of their thoughts there.

I attended a Catholic funeral Mass yesterday, & although I do miss what has been my life history (including being active in the Church), I feel liberated because I have rejected the rules that have manipulated & confused me while I could have given my energies to more worthwhile things such as the appreciation of life & my fellow men & women.  Liz, like you & the delightful Bill Maher, I just "don’t know", but I pray daily for friends, family, our country, our president, etc.  I just finished reading The Forsyte Saga (one of the best books of my life!) & Galsworthy wrote about Soames Forsyte prior to a funeral service, "He didn’t believe a word of it; on the other hand, it was a form of insurance which could not safely be neglected, in case there might be something in it after all".  Hmmm :)).

Liz, there is a great entity and a whole lot of mystery in our universe that we have all come to realize. We often look to that great entity and the mystery surrounding it when we feel in trouble or for daily general guidance. The problem is that we all seem to have our own point of views concerning this wonderful entity we have all given different names and attach our own beliefs too; so much that conflict often arise in discussion of it. Consequently, some have decided that there is no proof of its existence and choose not to believe. Regardless of all the names and beliefs; that mysterious being does the same thing for us all if we believe and we call upon it. I have called upon it and I believe in it.

PS: I say IT because its gender is one of the mysteries

That "IT" just may be the strength, the passion, the love, the resources, the perseverance, the compassion, and all the other qualities we humans possess. That mysterious being might just be the face you see in the mirror every morning and feel viscerally when you make your world go round.

Hey Phyllis, Perhaps, who knows? All I know is that I feel something (that energy) is present. Thank you for making that point.

Liz i believe we are each a part of the universal energy. When I look into religion all I find is hate. Some of the post on this site are my examples. When I look into the spiritual community there is much more of what I feel in my heart. A really good book Micheal Beckworths new one. It has lots of interesting points. All in all it should be an individual thing what to believe in or not. It should never be mandated as it has throughout history.

At times those moments of affirmation come when we least expect them too. This afternoon I had my five year old grandson out in the yard with me picking up sticks, trimming bushes, etc. for the new season.

He had spent time picking a bouquet of dandelions and came over to me. He just said "Grandma, I picked these for your mommy." I said "honey, I can’t give my mommy flowers anymore." He said "that is okay, next time I see her I will give them to her, and tell her they are from you."

I come from a lineage of mediums that trickled down through my siblings, kids and grandkids. My mom died when Aidan was 6 weeks old. The morning she left this world, we sat him on her pillow, and even though they said she was brain dead, a tear came down her cheek as she looked at him, six months later he was sitting in his high chair alone in the dining room, and we could hear her talking to him.

From his matter of fact statement today, I have no doubt she is still talking to him. There is more to this universe, and at times, the messages come from the babes and innocents.

Liz,

Join me at

My purpose is not to change beliefs, rather to assist in others finding a clearer path to the inner self, and there are some photos of mine there which shows evidence of much more.

Blessings,

Linda
