Flash! From Liz Smith | 07/10/2009 1:30 pm

LIZ SMITH FLASH! Old Joe Jackson Thinking Showbiz for Paris?

Liz Smith
Memo to the Michael Jackson family. When you allow old Joe to go about talking of how he is looking at Paris for a show business career and how he is going to raise Michael’s children – isn’t this just a setup for Debbie Rowe to seize custody from Katherine Jackson?! Joe Jackson gave an interview to ABC News that is chilling in its implications – aside from his assertions that Michael was the victim of "foul play."

The one thing Michael always made clear was how his father ruined his life. I think he must be rolling in his grave wherever that may be to think that Joe Jackson will have any say-so over these three grandchildren. Let alone protecting these poor innocents from a future in show business!

My argument with the constitution is that a Black Man is 3/5 of a man.  It has never been changed, that is what my argument with it is.  This country elected a Black President because he happens to be the best man for the job, not because he is Black. Let’s be honest.

Nicole,

You need to do research.

The purpose of the 3/5’s [black man] rule was to develop a unit of measurement for the purpose of determining the wealth of each state and its tax obligations. The North wanted slaves to count for more than the South did, because the objective was to determine taxes paid by the states to the federal government. In the Constitutional Convention, the more important issue was representation in Congress, so the South wanted slaves to count for more than the North did.

In 1793 slave states would have been apportioned 33 seats in the House of Representatives had the seats been assigned based on the free population; instead they were apportioned 47. In 1812, slaveholding states had 76 instead of the 59 they would have had; in 1833, 98 instead of 73. the Connecticut Compromise argued that position.

No matter. In 1865 when slaves were freed the three-fifths clause was rendered moot. Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (1868) later superseded Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3. It specifically states that "Representatives shall be apportioned …counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed..."

I am clueless what you are arguing about. Nothing is ever stricken from a federal document. It is amended.

Yes, let’s be honest about the current President. I do not believe he is the best man for the job. I also do not understand why anyone would think he is.

Even if as you stated that was amended, this country still does not recognize Black people as equal.  No where.  I believe that Obama is the best man for the job because he is coming from a different perspective and not the GOOD OLE BOYS NETWORK that we had to endure for the last 8 years.   If you have not walked in my shoes as a Black person in this country, you will NEVER understand.

Nicole,

It WAS amended. You can check it out for yourself.

OK, then explain what it is I don’t understand. But before you do, you need to understand that while you criticize the "Good Ole Boy" network, obama is creating his own network. Also, don’t assume that I can’t understand because I haven’t walked in your shoes, keep in mind that I’m a Jew and lost many relatives in the Holocaust. You think I don’t know about discrimination?

This is your opportunity to educate me. Tell me what you’ve had to endure for the last 8 years.

The Holocaust was horrific! … Jews were not the only persons who were murdered! … However, no one ever acknowledges the murders of ethnics, homosexuals, the disabled and the mentally challenged! … Six million people died and Jews were the majority. However, MILLIONS of Blacks died during the Middle Passage/Slavery! … Yes, you know about discrimination AB. The difference is the difference. Jews by virtue of their complexion could always change their names and many did. African Americans cannot.

Jews were not lynched, rape, whipped, castrated, murdered, suffer attacks by dogs and water hoses. There were Jews who died during the Civil Rights Movement. AB Jews did not suffer the lost of their identity. Nor were they placed in chains and packed on ships. They were not stripped of their cultural heritage. They were not left a people with no name to piece together a life. Adopting the names of their oppressors.

Your Words

This is your opportunity to educate me. Tell me what you’ve had to endure for the last 8 years."

We are know what African Americans had to endure in this country from Slavery until today. President Obama being the president does not mean there’s an end to discrimination. AB there was a "Jewish Holocaust and a Black Holocaust." I’ve also adopted the expression NEVER AGAIN! … However, it keeps happening where Blacks are concerned. Your skin color is your pass. You are Jewish not Israelite the descendants of the Bible.

Biblical Truth

Blacks (Israelites)have been oppressed since biblical times. Israelites(Blacks) have endured discrimination and oppression for thousands of years.

LC,

I empathize with the history of blacks, but the question was about the last 8 years. [That’s the time frame Nicole was arguing.]

As an aside, it’s NOT correct to say that Jews could have simply become non-Jews by virtue of their skin color and escaped the Holocaust. This was never an option. They were rounded up like cattle and shipped, crushed into one another, in cattle cars bound for concentration camps. I won’t argue that Blacks suffered grave indignities and pain, but they were fed and weren’t mass murdered. But again, the answer I’m looking for is about the last 8 years.

LC so your one of those who believe that Israelites are black, then that makes Andrea a black person b/c she is Jewish and Jews are Israelites…Im sorry but I do not believe that Israelites are the same as black people, that is your opinion.  Jesus was a Jew not a black man, if he was a black man he would have been described as a black man of African decent, not a olive skin, wooly hair man of Jewish decent.

If you go to Israel and meet those born in Israel, Lebanon, Iraq, those are the men that Jesus looked like…

Slavery was awful and it should have never happened yet it did at the hands of their own people in Africa, was it right for the Americans and other Countries to buy slaves and do what was done to them NO just like it wasn’t right for the Jews to be rounded up and put into camps and treated like animals.  For me one isnt worse than the other BOTH were just horrible.

Have you traced your roots back to slavery?  If so I apologize that the white men treated your family unkind.  I know one of my long ago relatives had slaves so does that make me a bad person today?

It is in the past and should stay there…no one alive today was ever a slave, there are still Jews alive today that were…

No certain people do not know what it feels like to be black but you also dont know what it feels like to be white, or jewish or mixed…

I have two comments.   1)  Jews did not sell their own people to the Germans    and    2)  The Arabs and the Africans sold their OWN people as slaves.    I believe the lucky slaves were the ones sent to America.   You cannot rewrite history, L.C.

Wow-ohWow, you have really veered off what this thread is about Nicole.  I fully agree with Andrea.  MJ chose to put the drugs in his mout, the needles in his veins, surrounded himselft with people that would only cooperate with him, and most of made billions of dollars which is a 100% given guarantee that your life is out there forever and ever.  That is the trade off.  Every one in acting, music, dance, in Hollywood knows that.  That is where the publicity comes from to help them to become famous and well known.  Then later all of a sudden they don’t want it anymore.  Well to bad.  You know hon, we call it what it is and that is a drug addict or a dopehead.  This is not about slavery by any means nor is it about picking on an entertainer of any color, race, or sex.  That is just absurd!  I never understood the Elvis crap either and would Never celebrate him, so you are way out there in Left field for some reason.

Nikki, The race card-you have got to be kidding me!!!  There is so much about this man (boy) that was so abnormal that books will be written forever!  If anyone was racist it was him, he turned white and even chose to have a white woman to carry his children.  But most of all I just wanted to say that YES Elvis was a drug addict too and lived such an excessive life that it eventually killed him, just like MJ.  I am not sure about Elvis but I know MANY people tried to intervene and help him and he chose not to accept the help.  He died because he Chose to put pills in his mouth and to put needles in his vains.  It is fact and actually very simple.  A tragedy yes, should it be a national holiday, Absolutly Not!!!!  The parents are almost 80, so what will happen to those poor children in a couple of years IF Joe and Katherine just happened to be good parents? (which I will never ever believe)  Every Jackson is messed up and it is so sad.  I believe MJ life was a lot worse than we know right now.  Mark my words on this date, books will be written and people will start to talk that lived with him.  Come on Nikke, he slept with a monkey and then young boys.  If you have young sons would have you let them spend the night with him??  I know what my answer is- NO WAY!  This is in no way a race issue and that is so unfair to even slightly imply that.  I respect his gift for music and dance, it was amazing!  I will never respect the way he chose to live his life, it was just plain wrong and unacceptable.

And there i where the problems lye.   It was his life, not ours to judge it!

Nicole, That just is not true, it is not how it works with any entertainer.  They pretty much give up their private life for the fame, money, life style, and most of all recognition.  It would not be right nor fair if we always glorified entertainers and just spoke of all the good, they are role models rather they like it or not Nicole and as it goes hon, The Good Comes With The Bad and that is just life.  Some can handle the fame and stay balanced and so many others do not and end up into drugs and/or alcohol, or many other types of negative behaviors.   It is so sad, but it is a fact.

It may be a fact, but does ridiculing them make it any better.  Good comes with bad in every situation but people are going after him with avengence.

Nicole,

You may perceive that I am "going after him." Frankly, I could care less about him. All I want is the insane glorification to stop so it interferes with my personal time. The over the top news media and broadcast journalism have slowed down…….thank goodness…..but for two solid weeks all anyone heard about was him.

You’ve been going on and on about defending him and I have to wonder why.
