Liz Smith's 'Most Satisfying' Present

In response to: What is the best present you have ever received?

I have said before that I have a pair of diamond clip-on earrings, which are panther heads, and I wear these almost every day. They were handmade by the jeweler who made Marie Antoinette’s infamous necklace. They are still in business in Paris and Rome. I have never had a gift that gave me so much satisfaction.

There are so many treasured moments with my children. But what I am looking forward to is this summer. When I finally am going to have opportunity to go down to Ohio from Michigan and meet my long time pen pal I’ve never met for the first time. We’ve been pen pals since 1981. That’s 28 yrs. She recently moved from Rhode Island to Ohio so finally we get to meet! I was 21 when I first started writing her, and now am 49. She’s now 62. So that’s going to be MY ‘most satifying’ gift to myself. :smiles:
