The international entertainment world is stunned by news that 28-year-old actress Lucy Gordon took her own life.

The Oxford-born former model won over American audiences as reporter Jennifer Dugan in "Spider-Man 3," but seemed poised for even more success after playing Jane Birkin in a film about French singer Serge Gainsbourg’s life.

Gordon was only two days away from her 29th birthday. This is terrible news and our thoughts are with Gordon’s family and friends.

Up until recently I blogged about not understanding how anyone could get to a point where they would want to take their own life. Now I get it.

My heart and prayers goes out to her family and friends.

This is incredibly sad, 28 years old with your whole life ahead of you.  I know with my illness I have thought about taking my life, but having children, I wouldn’t be that selfish.

Anyone who commits suicide is at the very least profoundly depressed. Mental illness can have a heavier price tag than physical. My heart goes out to all the ones she left behind. They were the last people she was thinking of, otherwise she might never have done it.

I feel sorry for her friends and family b/c right now they are feeling awful that they didnt see the signs and how could they have let this happen.  I dont understand suicide and think its the easy way out of problems.

Anyone commits suicide is mentally ill unless we accept suicide as acceptable behavior.

How sad. It all looks great under the lights. Actors and actresses are human too. Poor thing I wonder why she felt pushed to that point. I feel so sad for her family.
