Madonna in Malawi for Potential Adoption

Madonna and daughter Lourdes arrived in Malawi this weekend as the pop star waits to hear about a possible adoption.
The 50-year-old has already adopted one child, David Banda, from the African nation and now hopes to bring a little girl named Mercy James home with her.
Unfortunately, things may not go as planned. The judge today told Madge she’ll have to wait until at least Friday to hear whether or not officials will make her dream come true, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, activist groups in the impoverished nation have protested Madonna’s plans. Save the Children spokesman Dominic Nutt insisted Mercy James, who is four years old and has no parents, would be better off staying in her homeland: "The best place for a child is in his or her family in their home community. Most children in orphanages have one parent still living, or have an extended family that can care for them in the absence of their parents." For the record, the little girl’s uncle has signaled that he supports the adoption. He was meant to sign appropriate papers today, but did not show up in court.
If you ask us, however, Mercy James would be better off growing up in wealthy Madonna’s house — rather than languishing in an orphanage. But, you know, that’s just our opinion. What’s yours?

I think that the people that go to the effort of trying to adopt these children and give them a better life are putting their money where their mouth is. More power to them, and good luck to Madonna!
By the way, I did not realize until yesterday when I saw this photo, that is her daughter Lourdes. How old is she? She is turning out to be a lovely young lady and looks very much like Mom. I have always thought that Madonna should have kept her hair that lovely shade of brown.
