Margo Howard on the Aftershock of Michael Jackson's Death

Our Dear Margo reports to wowOwow from Paris on the news of, speculation around and celebrities touched by the King of Pop’s sudden passing at the age of 50.

I am in Paris, with Liza Minnelli and Usher. Well, not with, but we’re all in Paris. How do I know this? They are all over CNN International because Michael Jackson died, they were among his good friends and Larry King said they were in Paris.

It seems that all of Michael Jackson’s friends are being interviewed. Quincy Jones, the CEO of Ebony magazine, Miko Brando, Deepak Chopra, Michael’s sister (I cannot tell which one … Janet maybe?). Oh, and Mark Geragos, the lawyer who won him an acquittal in the California child molestation case. Geragos, in answer to Larry King’s question of whether or not people should, for now, "put aside any unpleasant aspects" of Michael’s life," said, "Definitely. Now is a time for mourning and appreciation." And of course we have seen a statement released by Elizabeth Taylor saying that "her heart is broken."

I have a question: Why did not any of these friends step in and insist he get help?

I am not even talking about the pedophile business; I doubt that a loving friend, or even the Kiddie-Interest wing of the Betty Ford Clinic could solve that one. I am talking about his addictions. I knew he was on something (or some things) and I didn’t even know him! It just strikes me as odd that all kinds of celebrities (let us not even count the throngs all over the world keeping "a vigil") are dumbstruck and shocked, shocked, that Michael checked out in the prime of life. Maybe when you’re super-famous no one dares to bring up the elephant in the room … or in Jackson’s case, apparently, a small herd. My guess is that "his own personal physician," a cardiologist, no less, may have much to answer for. The drugs so far mentioned in relation to Jackson all, in excessive amounts, take a toll on one’s heart. The toxicology screen, when it comes back in several weeks, will answer many questions.

I do want to say one positive thing about Deepak Chopra. Going against Geragos’s wish to leave aside the "unsavory aspects" of Jackson’s life for now, Chopra did volunteer that he had spoken to Michael about the danger of hanging out with people who would get you drugs. He went on to blame the docs "who attach themselves to the entourage." He said that whenever he began this discussion Michael "would change the subject."

One headline said that "Show business killed Michael Jackson." I would probably disagree with that statement. What probably is indisputable is that Michael Jackson is, for the first time in a long time, finally resting in peace.

Nope, and I have no proof of the inappropriate touching I suffered as a child either.

Laurie…..great comment! Let’s not forget that O.J. was also found not guilty…Yeah right!!!!

Laurie, just b/c you were touched as a child does not mean MJ did what he was accused of.  If he did it then he is meeting his maker…

I’m with you on this one C Hardy. Although it is possible Jackson did do something wrong with those boys, it is just as possible that he was a victim of an extortion attempt. I personally always bought what he said about not having a childhood etc. and think that he really saw himself as a child and even thought like one. I’m not saying that’s not messed up in itself but it’s not a sex crime. And I have to question the thinking of parents who would hand their children over to an ‘adult’ male the way those people did, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they were making stuff up. My guess is that MJ was pretty asexual.

DeBurca, I always wondered why you would let you child play at a grown man’s house alone w/ that grown man?  I mean taking them to play & leaving with them and staying w/ them is fine but to leave them alone, I never got that.

I think it may have been a set up. Just because people are parents does not mean they have the best interest of their children in mind. Maybe they even have a twisted view of what IS in their best interest. Anyway, I think the parents judgement was enough to question whether or not they were lying. And I do think Michael Jackson was probably asexual. Now it is even coming out that the two kids he had with that blonde were not his, that she was inseminated with the sperm of an anonymous donor.

Oh that would be so sad if those kids turned out not to be his…I feel for Mj and yes I feel he may have been set up by the parents of those boys that were allowed to stay in his house.

C, I find it hard to believe that these kids are his biological children; but no one can deny that they are legally his, and he has raised them until now.  Just like adoptees or those conceived with donor eggs/sperm or carried by a surrogate, they are HIS, no matter the biology.  What worries me is what will happen to them now.  I don’t think either their grandparents or their biological mothers are very good custody choices, but no ideas on a better arrangement.  One of their aunts or uncles?

Lila, I am not sure if anyone assocaited with those kids would be fit to raise them, if you ask me the whole family is off.  :)

its unfortunate that most celebs seem to be out of touch with reality and that they always suppose that their crimes should be overlooked.

C Hardy….let’s get real here….Jackson HIMSELF admitted to sleeping in the same bed with underage boys.

Jackson had the money, the celebrity and the Lawyers with which to win any case that did not have adequate proof…so why did he pay MILLIONS is hush money to make cases go away?

Common sense people….common sense please….

Kelly,

Just b/c he paid it doesnt make him guilty.  That is all I am going to say, I am not going around and around.  We will never know unless now that he is dead the boy who is now a man comes forward.

I never said the boys did not sleep in his bed, he admitted to that, but that doesnt mean they had to do anything.  You can sleep in the bed with a kid and not molest them, why can’t MJ

Would you let your child spend the night at an adults house that has no kids?  NO im sure you wouldnt, that is common sense.

C Hardy…you are right about one thing here…I would NOT allow any child of mine to get anywhere near a disfunctional freak such as Michael Jackson. The nose bleed seats at a concert would be too close for me…

Now…let’s just not suspend common sense here…he was disturbed to say the least. He had an un natural attraction for young boys….he slept in beds with them, despite being accused and knowing it was wrong…he had no control over his urges…he was accused several times of sexual abuse with a child. He paid hush money…HE WAS A SICK HUMAN BEING.

Who happened to be a musical genius.

The End.

The proof is he paid out over 20 million dollars in settlements. This guy was a child molester I don’t know one man who would pay out one penny if he were not guilty. Do you?

People do that all the time. Didn’t Bill O’Reilly settle his sexual harassment suit out of court and claim that he was innocent?
