Marlo Thomas and Elaine May Were Felix and Oscar
In response to: In memory of 'Golden Girl' Bea Arthur, with what three women would you get a kick out of being roommates, à la 'Golden Girls'?
Ages ago I was roommates with Elaine May, and though we were Felix and Oscar (I was Felix) I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Good times, lotsa laughs, day and night. My sister, Terre, would be our third roommate, mainly because it would be swell to share space with her again. We haven’t bunked together since we were kids (and performing little shows jumping out of our closet)! She is also hilarious. The three of us would be plenty.

At age 56, in need of money and not liking the echo in my house at night, I got a roommate, a very-slightly younger woman. It’s weird.
She’s perfectly nice, she pays her rent on time, she walks the dog when I can’t, she even does the dishes and washes the floor. It’s still weird.
Even though I know it’s not her, it’s me; it’s weird.
What a duo. Visualizing lots of dark hair, the sounds of a hi-fi playing and empty cocktail glasses strewn about.
And are referring to Terre, the singing nun?
