Mary-Louise Parker Bitter Over Nude Bathtub Scene in 'Weeds'

Mary-Louis Parker, the beautiful, confident star of the Showtime series "Weeds" (which starts its fifth season June 8), has always been comfortable with sex scenes, but getting completely naked for the camera is an entirely different story. The actress revealed that a scene from last year’s finale, in which she is nude in the bathtub, made her uncomfortable.
"I didn’t think I needed to be naked, and I fought with the director about it, and now I’m bitter," she tells More in an interview that will appear in the June issue. "I knew it was going to be on the Internet: ‘Mary Louise shows off her big nipples.’ I wish I hadn’t done that. I was goaded into it.” Sadly, at the time of this writing, "Mary Louise shows off her big nipples" sits at the No. 3 spot on Google Trends.
"Weeds" co-executive producer, Roberto Benabib, defended the scene, stating that the nudity was necessary to convey the character’s vulnerability. "We felt at that point in her life, defenses had been so thoroughly stripped away," he says. "There was a nonchalance to the nudity that informed the scene … I thought it was wonderful, one of the five best scenes Mary-Louise has ever done [on Weeds]."
Though Parker was upset, the actress really had nothing to be ashamed about. Parker, a mother of two (William Atticus Parker, 5, and adopted daughter Caroline "Ash," 1) has the body of a goddess. And plastic surgery has nothing to do with it.
“Somebody told me that they’d read that I had all this work done and showed me a picture, and it was totally airbrushed … It made me so mad. I don’t like what that says to other women. I’m 44, and I look OK for 44. I’m not trying to look 34.”

Too bad she didn’t pull up her big girl panties and just say NO. There are actresses who refuse certain scenes because they feel uncomfortable. Parker could have done the same. Her director may not have liked it, but he would have changed the shoot.
Too late to whine about it now.
I feel for, Mary-Louise Parker, when you are pushed by your boss; to do something that you know in your gut is wrong. Yet you do it to keep your job. That is harassment, mental-sexual- coercion (bullying). Too bad it isn’t seen that way in the movie industry.
Regardless of hot "hot" I have looked through my life, I wouldn’t do that. It is against my beliefs and I do feel women are objectified everywhere. Everytime a woman/girl does this, it’s steps backward for women to be taken seriously. Money is NOT worth losing your self-respect.
I didn’t read anywhere in this article that she said she lost her SELF RESPECT.
If I read correctly, she said she was bitter and wished she hadn’t done it.
I think you must be putting your own feelings on her.
