Mia Farrow's Brother, Patrick Farrow, Found Dead in Vermont Art Gallery

Police so far say details of the investigation don’t add up, but that doesn’t necessarily mean foul play

Mia Farrow’s brother was found dead this week at his Vermont art gallery, and police so far think his death is "suspicious."

Patrick Farrow, 66, and his wife Susan — both of whom are sculptors — owned the gallery and studio space in Castleton, VT, near the New York border. Susan Farrow found him and called 911 around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Police won’t give details as to why they think something fishy may be going on with the whole incident. Officer Tim Oliver said the death was considered suspicious because portions of the police investigation didn’t add up, reports WPXI in Vermont, but that might not necessarily mean foul play was involved. More details may emerge after the autopsy is complete.

Patrick was Mia Farrow’s older brother and one of seven siblings born to author John Farrow and actress Maureen O’Sullivan.

Patrick Farrow has been a professional sculptor for more than 30 years, and he left New York City three decades ago to seek peaceful refuge for his art in Vermont, according to his gallery’s website. A fellow in the National Sculpture Society, he has received numerous national awards; including those of the Allied Artists of America and the National Sculpture Society. He was raised in Hollywood and Europe.

"Early on my imagination was stimulated by years spent on movie sets in Hollywood and Europe as a result of my parents professions," Farrow writes on his gallery website. "My art is a result of the total of my life so far. Profound and mundane, real and imagined, animate and inanimate, a bit of this and a bit of that, whatever pleases the artist."

I had read about Patrick Farrow’s death in the newspaper but did not realize the circumstances were suspicious. Very sad.

"Mia Farrow’s brother, artist Patrick Farrow, committed suicide Tuesday, June 16. As expected, on the following day the Associated Press released a wire story about the incident. But, the odd thing about the short recount of the Farrows’s lives and the account of the discovery of Patrick’s lifeless body is that that the AP found some reason to slip in an attack on George W. Bush into the story. Worse, the AP used the fact of a U.S. soldier’s death in Iraq as a vehicle to slam the past president. What did BDS have to do with the Farrows, Patrick’s death, and a report on the same?

The customary information about Patrick Farrow’s death was duly reported, of course. We were informed of the laundry list of facts. We got Farow’s relation to actress Mia Farrow; a bit about her life; some on Patrick’s life’s work in sculpture and art; and some of the initial findings surrounding his death also appear. All good and proper reporting, of course. But then, at the very end, we get to the anomaly of the story, a lapsing into Bush Derangement Syndrome that is completely out of place with the rest of the tale.

deber B, this has to be the ultimate ridiculous slur on AP’s part. Seems they just can’t report a story, any story, without putting the blame on Pres. George Bush. What in the world does Patrick Farrow’s death have to do with a U.S. soldier’s death in Iraq? The editors of AP has no shame and this certainly, once again, proves it.

The soldier who was killed was a nephew of Mia and Patrick Farrow. I’m not making a statement about President Bush. But I do understand his being distraught over a nephew’s death.

Amazing……..you use this thread about Patrick Farrow’s death to somehow discredit the "AP" by posting a story you find apalling and give it even more publicity? But, as I recall many here used the soldier’s death in Arkansas to slam Obama — so I don’t understand why Bush can’t be slammed for a soldier’s death in Iraq — actually slammed for over 4300 soldier deaths in Iraq.

These matters are so personal and private, it only reinforces what we have learned over time from those living a public life. Society doesn’t know when to courteously turn their gaze and simply say, "My sympathies." I was pleased when I read of David Carradine’s funeral in that his family held a very personal service with good music and memories of the man. One thing that came forth made me laugh. Carradine had a "list" of things to know about life. Only two were cited, but they were pips: "Don’t ever marry a woman named Candy," and "Don’t ever buy anything from a man out of breath."
