Michael Vick has been released from federal prison early and will spend the rest of his sentence in home confinement.
Vick, the former quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons, has two months left of his 23-month sentence for financing a dogfighting ring.
CNN was told by Wayne Pacelle, the president of the Humane Society of the United States, that Vick plans to work with them on anti-dogfighting campaigns. If the NFL reinstates the 28-year-old, Vick could head back to the football field in September and finish out his ten-year, $140 million contract with the Falcons.

In a nutshell: The Judge sentenced Vick to one month short of the maximum sentence allowed. The problem is that the maximum penalty [24 months] is far too lenient; the range needs to be greatly explanded. The reality is that in this country dogs are domestic pets and even considered children to some. The bond between dogs and humans is great - I can attest to that. Vick has NEVER shown remorse and I am willing to bet plenty that he still does not. His only remorse is for the money and life he lost.
I also think that Wayne Pacelle is nuts if he goes ahead and contracts with Vick to do public service announcements. The public won’t see such broadcasts as sincere.
Vick shouldn’t be within a mile of any dog. He doesn’t deserve a damned thing and the NFL is crazy if they rehire him since he is not role model material. I can’t say enough bad things about Vick. If I had my way he would spend the rest of his life in jail, or in the absence of that, work for $.12 an hour as a janitor as he did in jail.
