We know little about Malia and Sasha, other than they are very cute little girls.  But as much scrutiny as those Trumps have been under, they have reared some decent kids… among them the beautiful and bright real estate savvy Ivanka Trump.  I’ve been impressed every time I’ve heard her speak.

Hey Wowowow,  you don’t know of any independent or republican mothers and daughters?  There must be a few around.  How about Laura Bush and her daughters?  Cindy McCain and her daughters?  Since I don’t know that many political figures that are independents, I don’t have any suggestions, but there must be some.  What about some that are not media celebrities but that work every day to makes women’s lives better?

Okay, even though I was critical of Princess Anne on a previous thread, I would suggest that the Queen and her daughter share an extraordinary relationship.

I also second Frannie’s choices of Laura Bush and Cindy McCain.  And what about the relationship of Sarah Palin and her daughter, Bristol.  Certainly they have gone through a great deal together … joys and sorrows.  Maybe Bristol is not as yet accomplished as some of the other daughters and I hope she is able to continue on to college ….. and ignore all the arrows that have been aimed and shot at her in the last year.

I also like the inclusion of Chelsea and Hillary.  They, too,  have had to bind together to get through some very tough personal situations.

I also agree with Frannie Em. Some Republican moms and their daughters would have been good to see. The McCains and the Bushes, yes. The Palins - not so much - although they, too, may exemply that "the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree."

Evelyn has 2 sons.

i love Blythe Danner and Gweneth. they both involve themselves in controversial tv shows and moves - Blythe appearing on Will & Grace, and Gwenyth appearing in Shallow Hal as a very overweight woman as a love interest. seeing them both in these uncomfortable characters made me respect them so much more. great job, ladies.

and Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson are such wonderful actresses in their own right. bravo ladies.

Wonderful photo gallery of Moms and Daughters.

Special kudos to Secretary of State Clinton - as I wrote on the U.S. State Department blog, DipNote:  "If not the White House - then the World."
