Leticia "Tish" Cyrus, mother of pop sensation Miley Cyrus, revealed that trying to raise five children out of their famous father Billy Ray’s spotlight wasn’t always easy. The Cyrus children, including "Hannah Montana" star Miley, grew up on a secluded, idyllic 500-acre farm in Franklin, Tennessee, but things weren’t always ideal.
"There were times I felt bad for them, because they didn’t live in a neighborhood like normal kids," Tish says in an E! special interview that airs tonight. "They really leaned on each other for playtime, and I think that’s why our family is so close."
Tish, who has always been by Miley’s side, also reveals how difficult it was for her to see her daughter deal with her very public break-up with teeny-bop The Jonas Brothers singer Nick Jonas:
Going through that with your daughter is really, really hard, especially for Miley being on tour. There were times when I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I just wish we were home and she could just kind of get over this in private.’
Tish adds that her celebrity daughter "was so open with her breakup because she wanted to help other girls her age … she just wanted to share with her fans how to get over heartbreak."
"Miley Cyrus: An E! Entertainment Special" features exclusive interviews with the young Cyrus, Miley’s family (Billy Ray, Tish, Noah and Brandi), and costars. The episode, which also reveals that Cyrus was ridiculed by classmates and was affected by dad’s fame, premieres Wednesday night at 10pm on E!
