Forbes's Celebrity Power List | 06/04/2009 10:20 am
Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Who Are the Most Powerful Celebrities of Them All?
Ever wonder who the most powerful lady celebrities are out there? Well wonder no more! Forbes now tells us, with its annual Celebrity Power List (it includes men, too).
It’s no surprise that movie-star do-gooder mom Angelina Jolie tops the list, taking talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey down a notch to No. 2. Hubby Brad Pitt ranks No. 9, while his ex, former "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston, took eighth place. Madonna and singer Beyonce Knowles made the top five. For all you "Twilight" fans out there — author Stephenie Meyer ranked No. 26 and young country beauty Taylor Swift ranked No. 69. Even President Obama made the list at No. 49. Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh was 23rd, while "Britain’s Got Talent" and "American Idol" judge and producer Simon Cowell came in 25th. Do any of these surprise you? After all, winners are chosen based on entertainment-related earnings and media visibility.

Congrats to all who made the list!
Do media visibility and entertainment related earnings equate to power? I wouldn’t necessarily think so. I would hope not.
There are many different criteria that must be met when doing a serious survey. What was the age, sex, education, economic status, political party affiliation and ethnicity of those polled? For example, Oprah viewers may not be Angelina Jolie viewers and both might vary economically , in age, educationally and ethnically.
The only way that imbecile race mongering tub of lard rush limbaugh could be more popular than President Obama is if the poll surveyed a larger population of conservative/republican/racists than Democraticrats/Liberals!
The survey was tainted!
Was it a survey at all? It says the ratings were based on media visibility and entertainment related earnings. I’m not sure that necessarily equates to "power" (or even popularity). But it could explain why Rush Limbaugh rated higher than President Obama. Although Obama’s media visibility is undeniably high, the bulk of his earnings are not entertainment related.
The whole thing seems pretty meaningless to me.
