Miss California Carrie Prejean Becomes Conservative Darling Amid Gay Marriage Brouhaha

Carrie Prejean may have lost the Miss USA crown, but she sure won the hearts of conservatives. What is it with the GOP and beauty queens? Don’t forget that Sarah Palin was once an aspiring Miss Alaska! (swimsuit competition video here)
Miss California has been blasted since the Miss USA competition Sunday night, when she said on national television — much to the dismay of celebrity blogger Perez Hilton — she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. She later said that while she doesn’t regret voicing her beliefs, her stance is what left her in second place. But since then, Politico reports, Prejean has found a slew of supporters from conservative bloggers, talk-show hosts and others on the right.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins stated his "admiration and support" for Prejean and said she "has been victimized by this flagging production in a vain attempt to generate interest through controversy rather than substance." One Alabama state legislator even introduced a resolution praising her for speaking out against gay marriage; it passed by voice vote.
Others applauded her for speaking her mind, even if it may not have been politically correct enough for the pageant crowd.
"It was refreshing to see someone not give the politically correct answer," writes a Kansas City Star columnist. "Predictably, conservatives and some Republican politicians are embracing Prejean because of her comments. That’s fine, too, because she’s getting a positive reaction for speaking her mind."
Donald Trump, the owner of the Miss Universe franchise, told FOX News that he has received thousands of calls and letters, the majority of which support Prejean’s stance.
"Miss California has done a wonderful job, that was her belief … It wasn’t a bad answer, that was simply her belief," Trump said, adding that Prejean’s question was "a bit unlucky," and that no matter how she answered, "she was going to get killed."
Perhaps if Prejean’s current career plans don’t work out, she could find a niche for herself in politics. The GOP could use more women in its ranks!

why is marriage between a male and female?
what about those born intersexed? i’m interested in knowing why you think this - if you have any reasoning behind it, that is. can you explain it to me?
Finally Lemon Tea…a good question on the topic….
Intersexed is not a choice now is it? I would guess that they decide early on which sexual organs most identify them with which sex.
freedom of choice is protected - freedom of religion for example. why shouldn’t freedom of sexual orientation (if homosexuality is indeed a choice)?
not that simple for most intersexed people. what if they identified one way early, then another in teenage years?
biology is not cut and dry and it is not simple, and it is shown physically through the intersexed - they have both genitalia and they have expressed feelings of being one way or another, or they feel like both or none, that they are attracted to one sex, the other, or both. and, it is not just intersexed people that feel this way.
also, why do the intersexed, to you, have a choice on which gender to identify with? no matter which one they choose, they sometimes have both genitalia - they are not allowed to marry anyone right now if they have both since either marriage would be considered "gay" due to their sex organs.
slippery slope….
Those born intersexed (WETHTM) can decide what they are and fix it.
why do those with both genitals get to choose? they can be homosexual, but since they physically have both sets, you think this is ok? why?
yes, that is what intersexed means. intersexed means those born with a mixture of both, there is no "standard" intersexed person. some are born with normal-looking penises and scrotums on the outside, but inside they have working ovaries and part of a uterus, and thus once they hit puberty they may start becoming "feminized" - meaning their ovaries are giving them estrogen, thus they are growing up with a male outside, but female "inside" - it may not make complete sense, but if it helps, most intersexed people have no idea what they should be feeling, or if what they are feeling is called MALE or FEMALE.
then you would be wrong. many have no identification and simply identify as intersexed - they are neither male nor female, but both or neither.
first of all, a bad suggestion - why cut your body up to make yourself what society says you SHOULD be? why put yourself at medical risk to simply force your body to conform to an arbitrary and literally fake ideal? they were born that way and most do not want surgery - there are infants that the doctors "cut up" at birth so they "look" like a male or female, but guess what? most grow up to "feel" like the opposite sex that was chosen for them, or they don’t feel "right".
this is not a black or white issue - physical sexes can differ and they can blend, as evidenced by the presence of intersexed individuals.
fingers are whooly different than genitals - as you know, people are JUDGED by their sex - males do this, females do that, only females can couple with males, only males can couple with females, ect… there are absolutely NO societal ideals concerning fingers or extra limbs. your analogy is moot.
and you are wrong. are you homosexual? if not, you should not make assumptions and judgements on a group of people you have absolutely no experience with.
but even IF homosexuals made the choice … what is the difference between them choosing which partner to be with, and intersexed individuals (who have both sex organs) choosing which sex to be regarded as? slippery slope…
no habibi, it does not. gay people do not choose to feel the way they do, anymore than you yourself choose to feel sttracted to whomever you are. it just happens.
it is not about belief, it is about your denial to accept the fact that people simply are the way they are.
I don’t think she was biased against another human being, starry. She just spoke her opinion about gay marriage: and she’s entitled to that. What did she say that would make you think that?
