Miss California Carrie Prejean: Gay Marriage Question Cost Me the Crown (Video)
Miss California’s honesty cost her the Miss USA crown, she says.
Carrie Prejean was the first runner-up in the competition Sunday night, and lost the pageant to Kristen Dalton, Miss North Carolina. Prejean, 21, had to answer a question from celebrity blogger Perez Hilton about whether gay marriage should be legalized.
"In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," Prejean replied during the event. She later told the "Billy Bush" show that her response "cost me my crown." But she’s not spilling tears over it.
"I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I said what I feel. I stated an opinion that was true to myself and that’s all I can do," she insisted, according to Newsday. Prejean said her parents taught her not to compromise her beliefs and opinions. Although some were disappointed with Prejean’s response, she told FOXNews.com that her phone has been ringing off the hook with people offering her support.
"I have no regrets about answering [judge Perez Hilton] honestly," she said. "He asked me for my opinion and I gave it to him. I have nothing against gay people and I didn’t mean to offend anyone in my answer." She also discussed being "tested by God."
"I’ve gotten over 500 Facebook friend requests, hundreds of messages from people I don’t know, saying how proud of me they are that I stood my ground," Prejean said. "That made me the real winner of the night."

Since when do they ‘consider a favorite’? A person either wins or they don’t and for this girl to assume she would have won if not for answering that question the way she did, is pretty presumptuous. This reeks of sour grapes. Also, I heard her answer on the radio this morning, whatever her opinion was, her delivery alone would have made her lose, she sounded just like that other pageant contestant from South Carolina in 2007:

She was not very articulate (although not as bad as the girl in 2007 - that was hysterical!). Again, I haven’t a clue how these things work but I do know the program I saw indicated that she had accumulated the most votes - maybe from other portions of the competition? - and was expected to win. I think these competitions are pretty useless anyway, so I didn’t pay all that much attention beyond that.
I wanted to make sure I heard what I thought I heard and found this. Actually, going into the competition, Miss Utah was considered "the favorite". Later, Prejean was believed to have it "in the bag". Again, I think these competitions are silly anyway so I can’t muster up much concern one way or the other.

I doubt that she lost because of the answer. This would only be an issue if there was proof she was going to win otherwise and there is not. You cannot base an argument or a discussion even on a presumption that has no basis in fact. She sounds like a spoiled little beauty queen who can’t imagine anyone except herself capable of winning. There is a term for this, sore loser.
Imagine how the actual winner feels about this woman telling the media the only reason the other one won is because of her answer.
Here’s your follow-up to the vulgar gossip blogger Perez Hilton’s attack on Miss California USA Carrie Prejean. On MSNBC (natural habitat of slimers), Hilton says he takes back his apology for calling Prejean a “dumb b*tch” and then pours on even more slime by laughing that while he called her that epithet he was really thinking of the “c-word.”
MSNBC host Norah O’Donnell says nothing to distance herself from the misogynist attack. (MM)
Where is the women’s movement on this???? Is this acceptable???
deber b — Perez Hilton is a nasty, vile little cretin. I think he considers himself an actor. Actually he’s a nasty mouthed blogger. He is hated in the Hollywood Community for his nasty attacks.
Since "The Donald" owns Miss USA and Miss Universe, he bears some of the responsibility for all this melee. I can’t imagine anyone picking this nerd ball as a "judge".
Miss California had this contest won! She, and Miss North Carolina, were by far the top contenders. Don’t know if Miss California’s answer cost her the contest, however, for Perez to call her names is just beyond disgusting.
