Liz Smith's 'Freedom' Park

My favorite park in the world is Forrest Park in Fort Worth, TX, where I spent my child hood, unsupervised, riding my bike, strolling along the zoo, riding the electric train and listening to the lion’s roar. You could hear them all the way across town.

This park gave me and my brothers a freedom to experiment, make our own mistakes and grow up unfettered. I guess it couldn’t happen to a child these days.

And I greet New York’s new park, the High Line, with great pleasure as I love parks worldwide including France’s Bois de Bologne, which is my favorite in Europe.

Candice Bergen: 'Central Park Is the Heart of the City'

Highline: I saw it and it’s spectacular and shows how a little idea and a few billionaires can get things done, but my favorite park is Central Park and the Conservancy that privately maintains it. Central Park is the heart of the city and filled with surprises and beauty and beasties.

Joan Ganz Cooney on the Park She Loves

I live across the street from Central Park and every time I look out the window, it takes my breath away. The Park is the heart of Manhattan and I love it.

Your place sounds like the most perfect piece of Americana…and how timely for the Fourth.

Longwood Gardens in PA is pretty darn impressive with 20 indoor and 20 outdoor gardens. I went there after I got married and took pictures that I then interspersed throughout my wedding album (not planned *that* I just put them in there because they were beautiful pictures). So in my album are all these gorgeous rose bowers and Italian gardens and sculptures and architectural wonders and it looks like I had QUITE the reception!  ; ) You can walk there and just go from one dreamland into another.

Acadia National Park - woods, water, trails, open peaks for great views, a place to rest with popovers and tea - it’s all you need!

my favorite urban park is the Millenium Park in Cambridge, Massachusetts - don’t miss the roof garden on top of the hotel

my favorite suburban park is in Concord, Massachusetts where they re-enact the start of the Revolutionary War at dawn on Patriot’s Day in April, not to be missed!

This pic of High Line Park is so beautiful serene and causes one to want to meditate. I would love to have a copy of it does any one know if that’s possible, to purchase a copy?

I love NY. Don’t live there but sure wish I did. It’s the BEST city in the world.

I cannot possibly just choose one park. Too many to choose from and all special in a unique way.

I wish I could show you pictures of Pammukkale, Turkey. Google it and check out the terraced pools of blue water.

Lincoln Park in Chicago is my favorite park, especially around Fullerton where they have surrounded the lagoons with an abundance of prairie-type wildflowers and native plants. Lake Michigan is visible in the near distance and on a nice day it is the most popular place to be.
