Paula Abdul opens up about ‘American Idol,’ the rumors that swirl around her — and why Simon Cowell really gives her a hard time.

Tonight on "Nightline" I will be joined by Paula Abdul, one of the four judges on the hit television talent show "American Idol." During my interview with Paula, we’ll talk about the rumors that swirl around her — and the real reason Simon Cowell gives her such a hard time. Watch a clip in the video below for a sneak peek and tune in tonight for more.

Don’t miss my exclusive interview with Paula Abdul tonight on "Nightline" at 11:35 PM ET.

I think she’s having delusions. I think Simon gets annoyed with her as most  people do because she has so much trouble articulating her critique that one could fall asleep waiting for her to finish.  I know this sounds harsh, but as a big fan of the show I have to say that in my opinion she it’s biggest detriment.  She should stick to the choreography that she does so well

I think there may be some merit to something between her and Simon. If you catch them as the cameras switch back to the judges, you often see them smiling and whispering to each other.

They are both smart they know all about the ratings on TV.  What would Idol be without Paula & Simon.  BTW we don’t need the 4th judge she annoys me because all she does is mimick Randy.  Makes for a long night.

Both Paula and Simon know what sells on TV.

They do a good job getting people worked up.

I will miss Simon if indeed he would leave.

He knows the business, his comments are usually geared to what would and will sell if you start recording. He has not made his millions with hiring just anyone.

I would bet that he has already some plans for Adam.

Agree - I think the "hard time" is part of the show, and they certainly put on a lively one!

I don’t know about Simon being in love with her.  Their relationship is odd.  Although they bait one another, it’s clear they are fond of one another. If anything, Simon seems to be protective of her in a strange type of way.    I will watch tonight. I have seen Paula in other interviews.  She was fluid.  But on Idol, she often slurs her words, makes nonsensical statements, and looks like she’s about to nod off.

I guess the jury always will be out when it comes to Paula.  The show definitely would not be the same without her or Simon.
