Patrick Swayze Death Rumor | 05/19/2009 1:35 pm

Patrick Swayze's Rep Denies Death Rumor

Despite rumors that allegedly stemmed from Kiss FM radio station in Florida, Patrick Swayze is not dead, according to the actor’s spokesperson.

A spokesperson for Patrick Swayze issued a statement Tuesday denying claims that the actor died this morning.

"This is to confirm that Patrick Swayze did not pass away this morning contrary to severely reckless reports stemming from a radio station in Jacksonville, FL," a statement from publicist Annett Wolf read, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Patrick Swayze is alive, well and is enjoying his life and he continues to respond to treatment.”

While the Florida-based radio station KissFM has been linked to starting the false rumor, the station’s programming director, Ken Bosen, told the website OhNoTheyDidn’t that he is "100 percent" confident that the rumor did not come from his radio station.

The 56-year-old actor was diagnosed last January with pancreatic cancer, which has since spread to his liver. Swayze, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments, unfortunately has advanced-stage pancreatic cancer, and most patients die within six months of diagnosis. Swayze is truly a fighter and we hope he is comfortable and resting.

What is wong with these people starting rumors…..that is so sad that they have to lie to get listeners!

The best thing everyone of us can do for Patrick Swayze, Farrah Fawcett and all those who are suffering from cancer is to pray for them and be their strongest supporters while they go through their terrible ordeal. Not one of us would trade places with them. Admire their courage and determination and give them all the prayerful and real support you can.

The media can truly be pathetic at times.  My feeling is that we will know what is going on when the person in question and/or their family sees fit.  I’m not big on these deathwatches.

I too agree Deena….the barbara walters special on Patrick was so very unkind….the questions disgusted me…what nerve to ask such private questions….that is no one’s business but for their own family….why does the media always try to shock us to get the ratings….

Hey, Libra, computer problems today, ugh, so will catch you tomorrow on wow.   I agree with you about Barbra Wa Wa and Patrick….instead of going out gracefully at the end of her career…she is staying on way too long and will be remembered for being a ditzoid.

I know.  It’s positively gruesome, isn’t it?  The interviewer or reporter always tries to put on their compassionate face but it’s about getting that scoop, plain and simple.  And morbid curiosity on the part of the public.  I do care about these people but I respect their privacy too much to want to know every gory detail.

Neither am I, Deena.   This and now Farrah Fawcett….I just don’t know what to think of it.

Dammit!  That is how I feel, not only about Patrick Swayze, but also about Farrah Fawcett.  They are terminal from ravaging diseases that both have been fighting so very bravely.  Can’t all of us and the press just back off and give them the quiet peaceful serenity with their loved ones that we would expect and want for ourselves?  I hope we all boycott the publications that we see at the grocery store checkout; the only reason it’s being done is to put $$ into the pockets of those publications….

I’m appalled at news media who are so wrecklessly reporting "news," be it true or not,  involving people who deserve their privacy and certainly don’t need to be bothered by others [just as bad] who call to confirm the "news."

Whatever happened to respect and compassion?

I see the pictures of Patrick Swayze and may heart goes out to him and his family.  All I can do is hold good thoughts and hopes for his comfort and good responses to treatments.  I watched Farrah’s video last week and it was very touching.  But the fact that she had to release it because the media was lying about her condition is the worst possible reason to have to publicize that absolutely most private battle to satisfy the media is disgusting.
