Sir Paul McCartney took on Google - and won.

The former Beatles singer complained to Google after the company included his London mansion in their Street View, a feature that allows users to virtually "walk" around the world’s sidewalks and streets. McCartney and his security team, however, worried that crazed fans may use the technology for ill, The Sun reports.

A Google spokesman remarked on the matter last night: "Since the launch of Street View, millions have used it and the vast majority are very happy to have their house included.”

These people are paparattzied to death. John Lennon was shot by a man outside his apartment. I can’t blame him.

And someone broke into George Harrison’s and stabbed him in 1999—his wife Olivia hit the attacker over the head with a lamp and saved George’s life.  I am glad Paul fought and won.  He deserves privacy and respect.

I love Paul McCartney and was devestated when John Lennon was murdered.  Technology is a wonderful thing unless it infringes on somebodies personal boundries.  I know many people say that when you go public, you lose all your privacy.  I don’t agree.  Yes some can be expected, but what has been going on for these poor celebrities is downright WRONG.

In Paul’s case, with John’s murder and George’s attack, Paul had every reason to worry. Google was a spotlight on how to enter his house, when and where. The rest of us don’t have that kind of worry.

It’s good to see what’s going on around my building especially for me in downtown Houston. But I can see that for certain addresses of anonymous people, it is an intrusion. But not for all. Maybe we should be given an option by Google?

Someone found me just by Googling.  I wasn’t trying to hide but it is disconcerting to be "found" so easily.  A celebrity might as well build a fence with barbed wire around it if they want privacy but that isn’t guaranteed anyway.
