Sandra Bullock Talks About Jesse James to Harper's Bazaar

Sandra Bullock looks as fabulous as ever on the June cover of Harper’s Bazaar. In the issue, which hits newsstands on May 19, the 44-year-old opens up about her relationship with husband Jesse James, her upcoming movie and on why, in her 40s, she’s become more carefree.
On starting her own family: When she married James, a motorcycle mechanic, descendant of the legendary outlaw and recent "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant, she became a stepmother to his three children, Chandler, Jesse Jr. and Sunny:
You don’t have to give birth to someone to have a family. We’re all family, an extended family … I’m not going to spend two seconds of my life wishing I had something I don’t. It’s hard to do it your way when you hear everyone else telling you to do it their way. I reamed out this idiot girl at some premiere once about this. I had just been talking to a friend who couldn’t conceive, and I saw her pain. And this girl said — she affects a nasal whine — ‘I’m from Star magazine. Are you pregnant?’ And I went off on her. What if I couldn’t have kids? Do you know what that would make me feel like? I just want people to admit that there’s no one way to live your life. Of course, I don’t know what’s going to happen. I could go home today and go, I haven’t started my period.
On her recessionista fashion sense:
I’ve never really had ‘the closet,’ you know, like the Kimora Lee Simmons closet. I see that and I want the leopard carpet. I want the chaise. But if we learn anything from this economic collapse, it’s just work with what you’ve got.
On her newfound freedom and adventurous ways, such as riding dirt bikes, with husband James:
Right now, I’m kind of getting into my childhood. I didn’t have a teenage or early-20s experience that was free and without worry. I missed the screw-everything, have-a-good-time phase. I was worried that if I didn’t stay on track and work, work, work, I was never going to accomplish anything. Now I’m trying to have fun and have the freedom to do nothing.
On her new film "The Proposal," in which she stars opposite Ryan Reynolds (out June 19):
I hate the term rom-com. Yeah, there’s some comedy and romance … Isn’t that in every film? Anne Fletcher, the director, is the reason this one turned out as cleverly as it did. And Ryan and I have been friends forever, at least nine years, before both of our marriages. Our timing seemed compatible, but you just don’t know until you get into a scene together.
