Authorities have denied the validity of The News of the World story, which claimed the father of Rubina Ali, the young "Slumdog Millionaire" actress, tried to sell her to a wealthy Arab couple.

"We have interrogated Rubina’s father at length and have not found any evidence against him indicating that he was trying to sell Rubina," said senior police officer Nishar Tamboli.

According to News of the World, Rafiq Qureshi and his second wife put nine-year-old Ali on the shopping block.

What is interesting to me is that the father and his second wife would have any say in the matter if the girl was living with her mother.  Don’t think I have actually seen any clarification of that.  My point being is that if the father actually wanted to sell his daughter, could he do this even though she wasn’t even part of his household any more.  That’s a scary thought.

The REAL SHAME in all of this is the treatment these children received from the Wealthy English Filmmakers who profited from their misfortune !!!!

It would not have taken much money to remove this child and her family from the slums purchase a home /apartment in an excellent neighborhood! … What about providing educations for all tje children in her family including college? … It’s a shame to return this child to the slums!

These filmmakers are nothing more than a group of ENGLISH PIMPS and HUSTLERS!!!!

L.C.: I have to agree with you about the filmmakers here.

This film, which broke international box office records, took home multiple Oscars, was about children being victimized by their own society and eventually making good with their lives.  Heartwarming: everybody I knew who saw the movie, including myself, cried through a lot of it and cheered at the end.

Now, it would just make me SICK.  They trotted those kids to Hollywood, take them to Disneyland: all in the guise of "giving these kids a chance to enjoy life".  Well!  What about giving them a FUTURE!?  How about giving them a decent home and an education so that they don’t end up in the slums all their lives?

The profits from that movie must be astronomical.. give them a piece of the action as well.
